If you’ve ever used a CHI hair straightener before, then you’re probably pretty well acquainted with the turn dial temperature control of models’ past. While this dial design made it easy to switch on your hair straightener each morning (even before you have had your morning coffee!), it also made it all too easy to accidentally change the temperature during use.
this one doesn’t get as hot as the one I got at a beauty supply
Late 17th-century wigs were very long and wavy (see George I below), but became shorter in the mid-18th century, by which time they were normally white (George II). A very common style had a single stiff curl running round the head at the end of the hair. By the late 18th century the natural hair was often powdered to achieve the impression of a short wig, tied into a small tail or "queue" behind (George III).
Since the 1970s, women have worn their hair in a wide variety of fairly natural styles. In the 1980s, women pulled back their hair with scrunchies, stretchy ponytail holders made from cloth over fabric bands. Women also often wear glittery ornaments today, as well as claw-style barrettes used to secure ponytails and other upswept or partially upswept hairstyles. Today, women and men can choose from a broad range of hairstyles, but they are still expected to wear their hair in ways that conform to gender norms: in much of the world, men with long hair and women whose hair doesn't appear carefully groomed may face various forms of discrimination, including harassment, social shaming or workplace discrimination. This is somewhat less true of African-American men, who wear their hair in a variety of styles that overlap with those of African-American women, including box braids and cornrows fastened with rubber bands and dreadlocks.
so the nice thing about this one is that it does heat up very fast and it has a fast recovery rate. I have thick curly hair not wavy. So for me it works. However the curls do start to show alittle resistance by the end of the day. This model as one temp max of I think 380 degrees isn't hot enough for my hair. I think I need like 400 degrees. However the brand itself has been awesome as the plates on it doesn't caulk up with products and doesn't snag my hair. It is definitely better than anything you can buy at a store. I am okay to use it but if it breaks I will find one with a temperature settings.
Used backstage at Miss Universe, this styling iron comes with plenty of smart features. It has an extended plate length of four inches, perfect for those with longer hair. Plus, these plates include layered silicone underneath, providing shock absorption for added durability. The touchscreen control allows for easy temperature changes, and it automatically locks while you're styling, so there’s no such thing as hitting a wrong button.
The V Gold Max Styler from ghd has great 5* reviews on lookfantastic; making it one of our all-time best hair straighteners. The larger plates on the styler make it ideal for thicker and curlier hair which needs extra heat to fully smooth the fibres. The contoured edges and wider plates also help create beautifully loose curls and waves; making it a great multi-tasking styler should you want a product which does more than straighten your hair.
love it totally worth it
Just bought a new ghd straightener. I have an old one 12 years old and ghd is not available in my country so I decided to buy a new one if the older one would die . I have used the old one everyday sometimes 2x a day for 12 years and I absolutely love it. I have been trying the new one and it is a litle bit different seems to weigh a litle bit less and has a sound effect when it is turned on. I feel like the new one is to smooth but that could be because the old one is very old and has a different feel and the plates are more used. But both of them give me very straight hair. I was very skeptical when reading the reviews on amazon....is it fake or not. My conclusion is that this is not fake and the best hair straightener ever. I have long curly frizzy hair and it takes me under 5 minutes to straighten my hair. I have tried many brands over the years and I have to say that ghd is the best of the best.
My second one I bought. It does a great job and does not dry your hair out. My hair always looks healthy
all the family love ghd straighteners and we would not buy any other straighteners because of the fantastic quality and longevity of these items.
Love my straightener and i’ve had it for about a year now
this is my third ghd flat iron. Great quality. Won’t fry your hair. Everything else takes a back seat to ghd.
so far I love it heats up fast and doesn't pull on your hair.
Very pleased with this product I bought 2
I like soo much I needed a product like this. Really it is the best in the market. The price was the best too
this is the best iron money can buy. It is expensive but its worth it if you can save and buy it.
“The temperature of the iron can determine the curl pattern on hair that tends to fall easily, as you might need a higher heat to lock in the pattern closer to the root,” she added. “The internal components of the irons also can determine the curl pattern, and that is why it is important to invest in custom, high-end tools that contain internal heaters that go the entire length of the barrel. The higher the heat, the stronger the curl will essentially be. Low heat will produce a softer finish.”
Very good styler and much cheaper than in the store.always difficult to find good quality not damaging styler with dual voltage.very pleased
At the price of a coffee and sandwich, you will be over the moon with the Revlon 5265CU Shape and Smooth Air Styler. It boasts 108 Amazon customer reviews with combination of 74 at 4 or 5 stars; I believe this is an excellent low cost air styler. I would buy one of these just as a spare or to carry round as it is also lightweight so makes for a good travel solution.
Don't ever consider buying any other brand of hair straighteners. I have very curly hair and these are the only straighteners that actually so the job and I have tried many over the last 15 years.
Genuine ghds so great quality as expected👍🏻 very happy and great value. Ghd eclipse are a bit better in my opinion but are much more expensive so if you’re on a budget this is an affordable high end product.
best flat iron I've ever owned. My hairdresser recommended ghd and I couldn't be happier. I have owned chi in the past but bit the bullet on this one when my second chi quit working and I'm happy I did.
Beachwaver Co. has reached cult-level status for its super easy-to-use Beachwaver, yes, but this styling iron from the brand is equally as notable. The beauty of it is the fact that you can achieve multiple looks with it. Use as is for a sleek, straight look or apply the black Coast Pro attachments (that are shaped like a round brush) and glide the iron down each hair section, rolling your wrist under towards the ends to create the illusion of a professional blowout.
The shorter your hair is, the narrower plates you need to straighten it properly. I have to admit, most flat irons don’t work well on really short hair. The most common width of plates is something about 1 inch, at least in my rating. If you have really long locks you can try a straightener with 2-inches long plates – for instance, the Xtava flat iron.
I tried to break everything up on the chart by category so it’s easier to narrow things down, but you have to keep in mind there is a ton of overlap in styling tools. You can have large ceramic tourmaline and small titanium steam as well as just about a thousand other options. The point is, although my table is here for those of you who already have an idea of what you want, there is a small chance you might end up looking at something with a few extra bells and whistles because there is so much overlap. If you’re not sure what different kinds of irons there are, head over to my buying guide so you can get that all sorted out before you start reading the reviews.
Heats up fast. Does not rip hair or get hair caught in crevices. Works on thick curly middle eastern hair. Works great and quick on wavy hair also
I ordered these straighteners on boxing day evening as my others had been stolen from the gym changing room the week before. They arrived the next day early afternoon on the 27th of december......how fantastic is that for delivery service. These are my fourth pair of ghds and I adore them. The only reason I am on my fourth pair is due to the fact two pairs have been stolen over the years and the other pair work but not as well as they used to they are ten years old . Have tried others but could never be without my ghds. Thanks for great product and amazing service
ghd is always a perfect choice for a straightener. I love this so much.
The male wig was supposedly pioneered by King Louis XIII of France (1601–1643) in 1624 when he had prematurely begun to bald. This fashion was largely promoted by his son and successor Louis XIV of France (1638–1715) that contributed to its spread in European and European-influenced countries. The beard had been in a long decline and now disappeared among the upper classes.
authentic heats up immediately and straightens in no time. Worth the
Lovely item the usual excellent quality from ghd
I read several reviews before I ordered and I almost didn't order at all. The price was so good I was really doubtful it would be a true ghd. But it was coming directly from amazon not just fulfilled or a third party so I thought just give it a shot mentally prepared it might be fake. I got it yesterday registered it with ghd with no problems. Used it this morning and it works fabulously. If you order from amazon llc you will not be disappointed but be careful of “fulfilled” or “third party”. Hope this review helps someone questioning the authenticity as I was.
If you are unsure what exactly your hair type is (or if it has changed over the years, which happens more often than you’d think!), check out this incredible overview by the hair professionals at Redken! Don’t stress if you have combination hair (i.e., fine and curly or thin and straight) either; we recommend choosing a hair straightener based on your biggest hair complaint and focusing on that problem first. So, if your curls are driving your nuts, you will want to select a hair straightener with higher temperatures, thin hair needs moisture, etc. You’ll find that your entire hair type can usually benefit from the extra TLC!
Utilizing an advanced Tourmaline Ceramic system, this mini straightener produces infrared heat and negative ions to eliminate frizz, static and flyaways while sealing in moisture for glamorous, mirror-like shine. Featuring smooth floating plates and a fast heat up time, the styling tool leaves hair feeling sleek, soft and glossy with a professional looking finish.
I have not used this item nor will I given my hair is only about an inch long however I am sure my wife will use it after she gets it as a christmas present.i only wanted to post this review to say I had a concern that the product might be a knockoff even though it was coming straight from amazon but I registered it with ghd and it is a legit product. I will update the review later when she uses it. Hope this helps other buyers
I had a set of ghd straighteners a few years back and my daughter always said they were the best she used.this new set is of apparent equal standard containing the straighteners and a heat resistant mat. The real bonus with these is the heat limiting built in setting of 185 degrees which ensures no hair burn. The second bonus is the hot plates being both above and below the hair.great and highly recommended
I would never recommend the InStyler to anyone! In fact, I think it’s positively dangerous and can’t believe that it hasn’t really changed since it first came out. It’s incredibly easy to burn yourself with this thing. There’s no protection at all from the hot barrel. Unless you have very thin hair or a personal stylist, this takes a long time to get to its claimed result of wet hair to styled hair. It takes much longer to use this on wet hair than the hot air brushes, like the Revlon you reviewed. The InStyler gets tangled in the hair very easily and is difficult to untangle without burning yourself somewhere. If you mostly dry the hair first, then very neatly section it, then use the InStyler carefully with a heat protective glove, you will eventually get about the same result as with any flat iron.
This flat iron features 1-inch wide ceramic plates with titanium coating, and I love its slick and neat purple design. The Remington straightener heats up in about 30 seconds, and it has 6 heat settings from 310°F to 410°F, so this flat iron works pretty well even for African-American hair. The digital controls with LCD screen make it easy to adjust the right temperature for your hair type. The only thing is, the buttons are on the side, so you may accidentally push them while using the device.
Most straighteners will have either ceramic or tourmaline plates, although a few use titanium. Ceramic is the best choice for delicate, fine or color-treated hair because it heats evenly and a bit more slowly than tourmaline or titanium with no hot spots. Tourmaline and titanium, by contrast, heat up extremely quickly and can easily damage thin or sensitive hair before you’re even aware that it’s happened. For thick hair, though, tourmaline or titanium are the way to go; tourmaline has the added benefit of producing 20x more negative ions, making hair moist and silky and reducing frizz.
