love this straightener. It heats up really quickly and will automatically shut off after a while an hour I think if it hasn't been used. It only has one heat setting. Also it's universal voltage so I was able to travel overseas with it very easily.
I had been eyeing this styler for a while and as much as I would've liked to save up to a 100 purchasing it here my peace of mind was worth the 60 80 dollar difference. This an expensive professional item that would not grant its 2 year guarantee if purchased from a non official distributor. I purchased from sephora and I'm incredibly happy with the product. It provides salon quality results so I see it as an investment instead of splurge. But if you're concerned both about the legitimacy as well as as the guarantee coverage of this product when purchasing from third party vendors like I was go ahead and spend the extra money. It might save you a lot of headaches and money in the end.
the product is nice safe and easy to use.
I was disappointed with these straighteners. They were my first pair of ghds and I was excited as I always had great results when i’d had my hair done at the hair dressers. I’d saved birthday money to buy them.however after just four uses they began to overheat dangerously nearly burning my hand and causing the electric to trip.i have since returned them as they were clearly faulty.however since sending them back I have borrowed my friends and they work fine so maybe I was just unlucky. Still they are not better than the other less expensive brand I had been using for years.i will say this the stylers I received were not the same as the ones in the picture and were vastly different than my friends. Hers are a lot smaller and the plates on the ones I sent back were very gold in colour while hers look like the dark gold in the picture for the product above.looking at the pictures of the different models online they looked more like the old style gold styler so I am not even sure I was sent the original ones. If I order a pair again I will be paying more attention when I open them in the future.
3rd September 1665: Up, and put on my coloured silk suit, very fine, and my new periwig, bought a good while since, but darst not wear it because the plague was in Westminster when I bought it. And it is a wonder what will be the fashion after the plague is done as to periwigs, for nobody will dare to buy any haire for fear of the infection? That it had been cut off the heads of people dead of the plague.
First, there are the temperature settings. Obviously, different hair requires a different heat level. The thicker your hair is, the higher level of heat you should apply to straighten it. I highly recommend you to read the instructions which usually say what temperature you should select for your particular hair type. This may vary a little bit from one flat iron to another. The general rule here is the less heat you apply, the better your hair condition will be. And always use a heat protectant, regardless of your hair type.
The best hair straighteners should offer you adjustable temperature settings so you can customize it depending on your hair type. This is incredibly important if you have thin/fine, delicate, or damaged hair because it allows you to ensure that the iron doesn’t get too hot for your hair. Basically, having the ability to set the temperature/heat setting gives you more control. But if you prefer to have a set temperature, then you should take note just how much heat your hair can take and how hot your hair straightener can get.
No more need for pricey keratin treatments to smooth my thick unruly mane one pass of the iron and my locks are smooth straight and shiny. Thanks ghd

I started this site after I made the decision to get a new hair straightener. I am not a novice with irons by any means, and I’ve had just about every kind imaginable except for some of the newest options. When I realized how far the industry had come in the last couple of years, I decided it was time to try something new. A good flat iron can last for years, as long as you look after it and make sure you buy one that’s robust enough to take what you put it through. By doing your homework up front, you can make sure you not only get the right straightener for your locks, but you don’t end up spending an inordinate amount of money on something that doesn’t work for you. Believe me, I’ve been there!
Great quality. Heating amazing. Works very well
this is an amazing product. I have had it for years and it hasn't broken or not heated to the max heat level once. If it ever dies I'll definitely buy another.
this is the best iron money can buy. It is expensive but its worth it if you can save and buy it.
I had a set of ghd straighteners a few years back and my daughter always said they were the best she used.this new set is of apparent equal standard containing the straighteners and a heat resistant mat. The real bonus with these is the heat limiting built in setting of 185 degrees which ensures no hair burn. The second bonus is the hot plates being both above and below the hair.great and highly recommended
Derek Yuen, the man responsible for Cole Sprouse's grown-up new look, recommends the GHD Platinum Professional Performance iron. The flat iron is consistently and evenly heated at 365 degrees, which is safer and less damaging on the strands. “The beveled edges also allow for infinite styling possibilities, not just just for straightening hair,” says Yeun.
During the First World War, women around the world started to shift to shorter hairstyles that were easier to manage. In the 1920s women started for the first time to bob, shingle and crop their hair, often covering it with small head-hugging cloche hats. In Korea, the bob was called tanbal.[28] Women began marcelling their hair, creating deep waves in it using heated scissor irons. Durable permanent waving became popular also in this period:[29] it was an expensive, uncomfortable and time-consuming process, in which the hair was put in curlers and inserted into a steam or dry heat machine. During the 1930s women began to wear their hair slightly longer, in pageboys, bobs or waves and curls.[13]

In 2004, ghd entered the North American market, bringing its total worldwide sales generating £37 million in revenue.[12] The Jemella Group, which owned the ghd brand, was bought by Lloyds Development Capital for £55 million in 2006.[7] It was sold eleven months later to Montagu Private Equity for £160 million.[13] Lion Capital, a British private equity firm, purchased ghd in February 2013 for approximately £300 million.[14]
Think of this as an updated version of your regular hairbrush. Its double negative ion technology gives your hair that glass-like shine without any static whatsoever. Its ceramic bristles with nylon cool-tips help keep damage to a minimum by releasing far-infrared heat — in a mere moment, it penetrates the outer layer of the hair cuticle and heats it from the inside out.
Ceramic irons heat up quickly and distribute heat evenly. These irons don’t have cool spots so you can be sure to get an even straightening every single time. These are ideal for those with fine, thin strands. Just be aware that not all flat irons marketed as ‘ceramic’ are pure ceramic. Some only feature a ceramic coating which wears off over time, causing damage to your hair.
Ultra-zone with predictive technology is the latest breakthrough in heat styling which guarantees homogeneous heat across the whole plate, allowing consistent beautiful results in one stroke. It personalizes power with its predictive technology, which recognizes the thickness of your hair and the speed at which you are styling and adjusts accordingly—so you get unbeatable results quicker and personalized to you!
I was recommended the ghd's by my hairdresser and lots of other hairdressers too. I am so glad that I bought these as now I can actually have the 'just walked out of the hair salon' look everytime I wash my hair. I only usually use them after I have washed and dried my hair as the style will last until I next wash my hair 2 3 days . It heats up and is ready to use in about 9 seconds I am so glad I spent the money on these and wish I had years ago. I would be lost without them now
