Fine or thinning hair can easily become damaged under too much heat, so cooler temperatures (i.e., those under 300° F) are ideal for these hair types. If you have very curly, course, or thick hair, then higher temperatures upwards of 400° F may be more suitable to your needs. With the ISA Professional Titanium Flat Iron, you can cool it down to 265° F if need be and also crank it up to a whopping 450° F for textured styled.
Bought ghd for the first time after being impressed with the finish at the hairdresser/using a friend's pair. I've had these straighteners a while now but so disappointed...have to re-straighten the same strand of hair several times and still isn't flat. I've had cheaper alterative straighteners and will be going back to that manufacturer (also at a quarter of the price).

Do cloud 9 straighteners turn themselves off?

Creams you apply in the morning are equipped to protect your skin from the environmental aggressors you’ll face when you leave the house—many contain antioxidants to minimize pollution-based free radicals and sunscreen to shield you from ultraviolet radiation. They typically have a lightweight consistency. Night creams, on the other hand, focus on repairing any damage you might have picked up with ingredients like retinol to speed cellular turnover and counteract dark spots. These creams also replenish moisture levels, which naturally dip in the evening, with emollients that often create a rich, thick texture.

It depends on your hair type, but pick a ceramic straightener if your hair is easy to straighten, and a titanium straightener if your hair is coarse and harder to straighten. Why? Because titanium plates heat up faster and can usually reach much higher temps than ceramic plates, making them the best choice to straighten coarse, curly, or coily hair. But higher temps lead to more damage, so if your hair is fine, wavy, or just easy to straighten, go with a ceramic flat iron (often combined with tourmaline plates), which distributes heat more evenly at lower temps for less damage.

Reviewers love this flatiron created by celebrity hairstylist Harry Josh for its overall ease. At 1.25 inches, the plates are slightly wider, making it faster to straighten your whole head. The plates are also curved with a nice grip, so you can pull hair through without it slipping or gripping too tightly to create a weird kink. The reviews online are all five stars, praising it was being “an absolute favorite” and “expensive but worth it.” This is just one of the very same tools used to create Gisele Bundchen’s signature beachy waves.

If you have ever visited a luxury spa or wellness company, you have probably run across far infrared heat a time or two. Without going into too much science, infrared heat is the same heat you feel when the sun kisses your cheeks and warms your body from the inside-out. Far infrared heat, in particular, has been used by medical and wellness professionals for years to treat a variety of conditions from muscle pain to even cancer.
I love these, they glide smoothly through my hair and leave it looking and feeling silky and healthy. My hair type is fine/normal and slightly wavy. My hair is bad at holding curls I can create some great beach’s waves with these that last all day. Only thins that annoying is the plastic casing of the plate has a seam in in which my fine hair finds a way to get trapped in, which never happened with my old GHDs that I have for 10 years. Also kinda wish the button was a switch like the used to be, the press and hold button to switch on and audio feedback just feels a little out of sync and devalues the experience for me. Still worth the $200 I paid for them though.

My hair is very wavy, and yes, it’s colored. I can honestly say that this is the best GHD hair straightener I’ve ever used. And I had a lot of models over the years, and not just GHD. It’s very light and slim, but I can straighten my hair with it way better than with some bulkier irons I have owned in the past. My hair is really fine, so this detail is crucial
Hi Annabelle! My GHD eclipse did the exact same thing, I kept it in a heat proof case, used it some times not even once a month. I had mine for just over three years. I was very annoyed, as they cost a lot of money. I was able to get in contact with GHD by calling them. I gave them a few details on the model and the best they could do was give me there new model for $150. Which I guess is better than nothing. Good luck!
If you lived through this particular time in our world history, then you probably remember the super straight hairstyles that we all sported a time or two (bonus points if you took a photo of yourself like this in your bathroom mirror using a digital camera!). For reasons we may never know for certain, sharp and straight hair was the hairstyle of choice back in the early 2000’s giving the good old hair straightener somewhat of a bad reputation.
This hair straightener is terrible. It was so damaging and it wouldn’t even straighten my hair. I have wavy hair, so it isn’t even curly or difficult to straighten. I noticed a ton of breakage after using this hair straightener as well. I had all these little short pieces of hair sticking up over my head. I’m not sure what the deal is because I’ve heard so many great things about this hair straightener, yet it was insanely bad for me. I ended up returning it to Sephora.

That not all, since the flat iron adopts a universal world-wide voltage. That means that you can use it in various states so that you do not have to worry about it limiting the places you can visit. The flat iron provides an optimum styling temperature of 365°F. As such, you do not have to worry about the hotter temperature that will damage the hair or cooler temperature that is likely to compromise the outcome.
If your hair is plagued by tangles and knots on a regular basis (even in between straightening!), try switching your hairbrush out for a wide-toothed comb! The added space in between the teeth gently separately knots and tangles without the painful “Ouch!” with each stroke. If that still isn’t enough to tame your stubborn tresses, try a wet brush! These brushes are specially designed to work through knotted, wet hair without any tugging or pulling.

Are my GHDs still under warranty?

With over 4,000 five-star reviews, this hair straightener from Remington is described as “easy to use” at a “great price.” “I bought this as a cheap replacement for a high-end CHI and this is just as good,” writes one reviewer, adding, “The buttons are in the right place, and it heats up quickly.” In addition to its quick-heating ability, many commenters agree that this flat iron lives up to its anti-static name: “It heats up fast and has a wide range of heat settings. The temperature lock is a great feature that many other flat irons don’t have. With the lock on you’ll always have a consistent temperature without risk of scorching your hair because you accidentally turned the heat up. The iron is super smooth and with the anti-static feature you don’t have to worry about frizzies or fly aways. It has a nice long swivel cord that doesn’t get twisted up or tangled. This is a great iron at a very affordable price!”
If you’ve ever used a CHI hair straightener before, then you’re probably pretty well acquainted with the turn dial temperature control of models’ past. While this dial design made it easy to switch on your hair straightener each morning (even before you have had your morning coffee!), it also made it all too easy to accidentally change the temperature during use.
Super fast heating up! I just turned it on, and I couldn’t believe it’s ready to go when it started beeping. My hair is on the thick and wavy side, and I’ve never been able to finish straightening it this fast. It literally takes me between 10 and 15 minutes. It also doesn’t burn my hair, or give it that awful burnt smell. I really like the bright shade of yellow. Definitely would recommend this GHD hair iron
We’ve all heard the saying that the grass is always greener on the other side, and our hair types tend to follow the same old adage. If you were born with a head full of beautiful curls, you probably spent your childhood longing for straight hair; if you were born with bone straight hair, then you’ve probably spent more hours than you’d care to admit with a throbbing curler-induced headache. No matter how hard we may try to love the hair we’re born with; the truth is that most of us wish there were something else perched on top of our heads from time to time.
I didn’t even realize how inefficient my cheap hair iron is until I bought this GHD hair iron. My hair looks incredible, and without any frizz. Remarkably quick heating up. I’m talking about 10 or so seconds, just to put some things into perspective. This is a must have, especially if you’re straightening your hair every day, like me. Best investment I made in a long while
This hair iron straightens my hair very quickly, and doesn’t make it look all lifeless like my previous iron did. I have total control over how my hair will look, and I just love that feeling. I must say I burned my hand testing if it was hot. When I first got it, I turned it on, and it started beeping like it was ready just seconds after. I couldn’t and didn’t believe it, so I touched the plate to prove myself that couldn’t be. The rest is history

How do I get my hair to hold a curl?

Good Hair Day started life in Leeds in 2001, when the core team of Susan Powls, Robert Powls, Gary Douglas, and Martin Penny decided to put their knowledge of the beauty industry into practice. Instead of designing the first GHD prototype from scratch, the team used contacts with the South Korean industry to import a style of straightener that had rarely been seen in the UK. But their real expertise was networking. In no time, the company had parleyed a few product launches into an empire supplying salons across the country.
The originals follow a very basic design of a flat iron – that means that they have straight edges as opposed to curved. Like all ghds, they operate at 185 degrees, which is the optimal level to be hot enough to have an effect, but not so hot that it will damage your hair to any degree. They also have a 1 inch width, which is the norm for all ghd’s too. For most people looking to pick up the cheapest pair of ghd’s possible, then the Originals give you the ability to do this.

This term frequently appears on product labels and is used by skin-care experts but not always defined in simple, clear language. Here’s a quick explanation: If a product claims to be non-comedogenic it means that it shouldn’t clog pores or trigger acne — either by occluding the skin, blocking glands or irritating the hair follicle. The claim is not regulated by the F.D.A., however, and many companies do their own internal tests to determine whether a product should be considered comedogenic or not. (Some common known comedogenic ingredients are coconut oil and cocoa butter.) Typically, the fewer ingredients a product has, the easier it is to determine if it will cause any reactions.
