The Paul Mitchell Neuro Smooth Straighteners heat up to 232 degrees in just 30 seconds so you can style your hair quickly and without fuss. The smooth plates glide through your hair; helping to smooth the fibres and give you a highly conditioned and glossy finish. Can old GHDS ruin your hair?
Sure, the drugstore flat iron you used on its highest setting back in the day was clunky and had a tendency to fry your hair if you glanced away for more than a second, and okay fine, your mom probably told you that you looked a little “emo” from time to time. Luckily, those days are long gone and hair straighteners have truly come a long way since the days of The Jersey Shore.
If your hair is plagued by tangles and knots on a regular basis (even in between straightening!), try switching your hairbrush out for a wide-toothed comb! The added space in between the teeth gently separately knots and tangles without the painful “Ouch!” with each stroke. If that still isn’t enough to tame your stubborn tresses, try a wet brush! These brushes are specially designed to work through knotted, wet hair without any tugging or pulling. Are my GHDs still under warranty?
I can't believe Amazon would allow one of their trusted sellers to sell fakes. I received mine today and it took about 5 seconds to realize that it was fake. I could not register it on the ghd website, and I came across the information below to help identify fakes. This straightener did not have a reset button on the plug, and had many more of the 'give-aways' that it was a fake! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER.

When taming coarse, wavy or curly hair, sometimes you need a little to kick it up a notch. That’s why we love that the CHI G2 Ceramic and Titanium Flat Iron can reach a maximum temperature of 425° F and heats up in under a minute! With this hair straightener, say goodbye to wasted time waiting for your tool to heat up, and get styled and out in the door!
Though it looks high tech with an LCD screen, this budget-friendly straightener has impressed Amazon reviewers everywhere. "I have very thick curly/wavy hair and in a matter of 45 minutes my hair was the straightest I’ve ever been able to get it by doing my hair on my own," wrote one reviewer from Florida, who said her straight hair managed to endure the state's humid climate.
What’s the best hair straightener? Should I use ceramic or titanium plates? What’s the best flat iron for curly hair? And WTF’s the deal with straightening brushes?! Yup, there are approximately a billion questions that come with buying the best flat iron, and it doesn’t help that there are also a billion options to choose from, all ranging from somewhat gentle to fry-your-hair intense. How hot does a GHD straightener get?
A ghd hair straightener is a type of flat iron for hair. It uses heat and ceramic plates to iron out the hair follicle, whether you’re eliminating kinks or creating a whole new style. There are two plates connected by a hinge. You take a section of hair close to the root and run the ghd hair straightener through the hair to the tip. Doing it this way straightens the hair, plus adds a certain sleekness and shine.
GHD Curve tongs – GHD offers two different types of tongs in the Curve collection. If you need to maximise volume, the Soft Curl tongs will be preferable. They work better with longer hair, creating luxuriantly soft, rippled curls from the root. The Classic Curl is all about creating reliably consistent curls and works best on shorter hair. Both tongs come with long cords for flexible usage, include a safety stand to prop the tongs when they aren't in use and have “cool tips” which let users twine curls safely without the risk of burns.

Are you tired of straighteners that create hot or cold zones limiting the ability to achieve consistent results? If you answered yes, the ghd flat iron can solve these troubles. The straightener is designed to deliver an optimum 365°F/185ºC temperature. Because of this, you do not have to worry about damaging the hair with extra-hot plates or limiting your results because of plates that fail to reach the desired styling temperatures.
However, if you only straighten your hair for special occasions, or have shorter or thinner hair, you’ll likely be equally as satisfied with a cheaper flat iron. Both the HSI Professional Glider and the Remington 1” Flat Iron with Anti-Static Technology and Digital Controls are great options depending on your budget. If you’re simply buying the GHD hair straightener because of the name, you may end up spending more money than you need to.
Can you use a GHD on wet hair?

The plates in this techy tool house an internal microchip that constantly measures and maintains an even temperature. With no random hot or cold spots, you'll get smoother, straighter, strands in fewer passes. (Spoiler alert: Fewer passes equal less damage). Adjustable temperature settings — from 260 to 410 degrees — make this ideal for any and every hair texture.
Reviewers love this flatiron created by celebrity hairstylist Harry Josh for its overall ease. At 1.25 inches, the plates are slightly wider, making it faster to straighten your whole head. The plates are also curved with a nice grip, so you can pull hair through without it slipping or gripping too tightly to create a weird kink. The reviews online are all five stars, praising it was being “an absolute favorite” and “expensive but worth it.” This is just one of the very same tools used to create Gisele Bundchen’s signature beachy waves.

In common with all GHDs there's an auto sleep mode that kicks in after 30 minutes, which you'll appreciate if you've ever rushed out the door to work and spent the whole day worrying you'll return to the burned out shell of your former home. The Platinum+ is also supplied with a soft rubber plate guard that slips over the end of the barrel for safer storage when hot.

That is just one of the reasons that hair straighteners are such a wonderful tool to keep in your beauty arsenal; not only does this nifty little device give you movie star-quality straight hair when you want it (sorry blow out bars), but it can even create the same curls as those confusing barrel-ended curling irons! So, clean out your cabinet under the sink and make room for that makeup you’ve been eyeing or the perfume your husband forgot to buy you for Valentine’s Day last year, because a professional-grade hair straightener can literally replace all of your existing heated hair care tools!
Hey there! My name is Juliet but my friends call me Jules, so you’re more than welcome to! Thanks for stopping by my site which I’ve put together to help people like yourself pick out a flat iron. Irons can be confusing if you have never owned one before (and even if you have). Whether you’re a newbie or a veteran, when it’s time to get a new iron the sheer amount of information can get more than a little overwhelming. I’ve done my best to sort through all of it here so you don’t feel like you’re buried under an indiscriminate amount of styling tools.
For frequent travellers universal voltage is a real boon. There's nothing worse than being away from home, wanting to look your best, and then discovering your hairdryer is about as useful as someone blow drying your hair through a straw, or that your straighteners just can't get up to the temperature you need to achieve the look you want. Performance from the Platinum+ is going to be the same wherever in the world you are.

What are GHD plates made of?
My eclipse died and I couldn't afford to replace them with the new platinum model, so went for the GHD V Styler, but they were horrendous and made no difference to my hair whatsoever. After reading reviews I thought I'd then try the IV Styler instead, now while a slight improvement on the V model, my hair was still left looking very big and frizzy. I've now reverted back to my really old emergency set of SHE's and can't believe how much better they are than GHD's, even the eclipse! If they ever need replacing, I know which brand I'll be opting for at half the price of GHD's!
While it isn’t the fastest heating hair straightener we have reviewed, the CHI Air Expert Classic Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron warms up to temperature in just one minute! If one minute seems like too long for you to wait, try adding a bit of multitasking into your morning routine by taking advantage of this found time. If you are at a loss for what you can do in just one minute, check out this list for a little inspiration:
Do GHDs turn off after 30 mins?
The ghd Platinum+ White Styler is the premium option for a ghd flat iron. The Platinum Styler also features a wishbone hinge for easier control and a swivel cord for easier movement. GHD Platinum products come with a 3-year warranty as opposed to the other ranges’ 2-years. At the time of writing, the Platinum GHD Hair Straightener costs between $240 and $260.

GHD Flight travel hair dryer – For a completely different take, check out this compact travel accessory. Designed to be stowed away safely in baggage and used anywhere in the world, the GHD Flight travel hair dryer comes with a clever folding handle to minimise its dimensions and is 50% lighter than a standard Air version. It's also around 30% less powerful, but that's excellent performance for a dryer of this size. Moreover, it's quite a bit cheaper than the Air, so it's also a good budget option for general purposes.
