This straightener heats up in such a short period of time, the beeping is helpful to know when it’s ready for use. It reaches an adequate temperature, no fuss or changing settings. It takes me approximately 20 minutes to straighten my hair completely, and I have naturally frizzy, curly hair. The health of my hair has not been affected by the straightener whatsoever. Highly recommended and wouldn’t use any other brand.
I got a new GHD styler/straightener for my birthday this year. My old original ghd maxx sadly gave up and died after 10 years of faithful service! I opted for the standard design this time as it was in a special mother’s day gift pack for a reduced price and I am really happy with it. Although it takes a little longer to styler my long thick hair (compared to the thicker tonged styler) it has the same long lasting, shiny effect!
Like all ghds, the IV heats to 185 degrees, which is perfect for creating a poker straight finish, glamorous curls or beachy waves. The floating aluminium plates make the styler easier to hold and control, while also ensuring those tell-tale dents in the hair are a thing of the past. Other features of the IV Styler include a 2.7 metre cable, an automatic shut down after 30 minutes, and universal voltage.
Renowned across the globe as a pioneer of innovative hair tools, ghd has radically transformed the way people style their hair from the comfort of their own home. To complement their best selling tools, including straighteners, curling tongs, and hair dryers, is a range of protective styling formulas, focused on keeping hair healthy, happy, and out of harm’s way.
This is my second GHD flat iron. I had the first one for around 5 years. Any flat iron that lasts more than 1-2 years already gets points from me. I broke the cord on the old one but I liked that iron better than the ones I have used in the past (Chi), so I got a new GHD and went a step up from the classic styler to the this time. I can't remember what website I ordered it from but it was on sale. It was still expensive but knowing that my last one lasted for years it's cheaper than me buying a cheaper iron and needing to replace it yearly. It takes about 30 seconds to heat up, it does not have different temperature settings. When it's ready it makes noise, it startled me the first time because I wasn't expecting it lol. It sounds like a cell phone ring tone. Now I like it bc I know when it's ready to use. It comes with a little black silicone (I think) cover that slips over the plates so you can put that on and put it away while it's still hot, or if you're packing, throw it in your suitcase as soon as you're done using it. I have long, naturally thick frizzy curl, that I bleach, blow dry, basically put through torture! The humidity where I live has been AWFUL lately. There are days that I flat iron my hair and it looks great and smooth and I walk outside and it explodes. Unfortunately I think that until I find a miracle product or go back to getting keratin treatments, that's just the reality of my hair and the humidity. I dont think any flat iron will be able to miraculously lock out all humidity. I get my hair shinier and smoother with my GHD iron than with other irons I have used. Now, if I can learn how to master flat iron curls!
Achieve straight, sleek locks: Mist hair with ghd heat protect spray and place a fine section of dry hair between the plates of your ghd Classic Styler. Ensure that the styler is as close to the root as possible before closing the plates. Then gently move toward the tip of the section in one simple gliding motion. Repeat the process with each section of hair, gliding once from roots to ends.
This is an expensive straightener, but it's worth every penny! I've had mine now for over a year, and I know I'll have it for many years to come. The iron itself is black and gold. I have long, thick, straight hair, but it gets a little wavy underneath if I let it air dry. If I blow dry it, it gets a little poofy and I use this to give it a more smooth, sleek look. It takes a couple passes of going over my hair before it's completely straight, but with cheaper ones it takes longer. It doesn't take too long to do all of my hair. It heats up super fast, and if I'm in a hurry and forget to turn it off, it turns off by itself after thirty minutes. I have dropped it a few times, and it's still going strong. I recommend this for everyone.
If you’ve read enough ghd flat iron reviews, then you’ve probably realized the main problem about this ghd flat iron. It’s the fact that it’s so popular that so many people are trying to peddle fake copies. It’s hard to believe that people would try to come up with fake ghd straighteners, but they’re now like Zippo, Louis Vuitton, and other iconic brands. There are so many fakes around!
Improved Ergonomics: If you compare the new ghd Gold to the now-dated V Gold Styler, you’ll notice one of the biggest improvements lies in its look and feel. The modern design means this product will look gorgeous sitting atop your bathroom counter, and the rounded barrel assists with preventing snags and speeding up your styling time. The swivel cord has also been upgraded to enhance your overall experience, letting you worry more about how your hair looks and less about twisting and turning to find the right angle (we’ve all done it).
Top stylists, models and celebrities alike can’t live without their ghds, so you know you’re in good company when you add to your collection. Whether using your ghd styler to tame frizz for a day at your desk, or to curl locks for a night out on the town, ghd not only allows you to straighten your hair, but also twist, curl, flick, wave and bounce too. With ghd, the possibilities are endless.
Against the ghd Platinum Styler: On the other hand, the Platinum Styler features more sensors and heaters than the new ghd Gold. This essentially means it will heat the hair quicker, and is a little safer in terms of heat delivery, too. Six sensors and heaters work to deliver optimal heat to the hair, instinctively adjusting to give you a transformative experience. Where this is the top-of-the-range choice, the ghd Gold Professional Styler sits perfectly in the middle, a great mix of affordability and professional quality.
