Sadly My GHD Straightener just died halfway through straightening my hair for a wedding. Although I have owned it for three years it is only used a couple of times a month, always kept in its protected pouch with the heat guard on, still looks new. I realise it is now out of warranty but surely for the price of the product the consumer has a right to expect a longer life expectancy, or are my expectations unrealistic? I have contacted GHD but have had no response so far. Very disappointed. This is my third GHD that has died. 23.9 Update on the above. Huge recommendation for GHD customer service in Australia. They did not hesitate to support me with my product issues. If you are having issues with your product give the team at GHD a call.
Good Hair Day started life in Leeds in 2001, when the core team of Susan Powls, Robert Powls, Gary Douglas, and Martin Penny decided to put their knowledge of the beauty industry into practice. Instead of designing the first GHD prototype from scratch, the team used contacts with the South Korean industry to import a style of straightener that had rarely been seen in the UK. But their real expertise was networking. In no time, the company had parleyed a few product launches into an empire supplying salons across the country.
My first GHD platinum straightener was replaced due to red light continuously flashing and no heat being transmitted. The replacement platinum straightener is now doing the exact same thing! No heat! Considering the price i payed for this straightener i at least expect a high quality product, and that is not what i got in the GHD platinum straightener! Im very dissapointed! I rely on my hair straightener and unfortunately I can not rely on these straighteners.

Steam straighteners, like the less common vapor flat irons, are typically considered better for your hair because they provide more moisture, making the straightening process less drying on your strands. While a steam straightener sounds super fancy, Conair makes a reasonably-priced Ionic Steam Flat Iron that heats in 30 seconds and boasts five temperature settings up to 455-degrees Fahrenheit. The steam straightener, with tourmaline-coated ceramic plates, also features three retractable combs, giving you options for the most effective length to detangle your particular hair.

When you’re shopping for a hair straightener it’s important to consider your hair type and the style you want for your hair. Some heat tools are designed to straighten and smooth your hair to prevent frizz while others may just be useful for basic straightening on hair that’s already fairly straight or simply wavy. Different temperature settings work better for different hair styles. Some straighteners are also great to create loose waves in your hair making them ideal for those who like to experiment with different hair styles. It can be helpful to read online consumer reviews when you’re choosing a hair straightener to ensure you get the best option for the money you want to spend.

Sadly, the plates in the LumaBella Keratin Duel Touch Hair Straightener won’t begin to magically levitate on your bathroom sink! BUT they do float in the frame! They are specially engineered to deliver a consistent heat with a smooth glide, and their design enables a flexible grip on the straightener, giving you great results no matter how you hold it. Even better, it won’t tug or pull like so many others on the market. The result is pain-free styling in a fraction of the time!
The GHD Platinum+ Styler claims to be the world's first predictive straightener, meaning it takes into consideration the thickness or thinness of your hair in order to determine the amount of power it needs to get your hair straight and maintain the ideal 365-degree styling temperature. That way, you can straighten your hair evenly with minimal damage or having to worry about the iron getting too hot. Say you have super thick hair or are styling a thick section. The Platinum+ Styler will exert more power to straighten it than if you've got thin hair or are passing the iron over a thinner section. GHD says to expect 70 percent less breakage, 20 percent more shine, and twice the color protection if you use their brand-new, $249 iron.
