The oldest known reproduction of hair braiding lies back about 30,000 years: the Venus of Willendorf, now known in academia as the Woman of Willendorf, of a female figurine from the Paleolithic, estimated to have been made between about 28,000 and 25,000 BCE.[8] The Venus of Brassempouy counts about 25,000 years old and indisputably shows hairstyling.

Love ghd this was the cheapest price if your shopping around
The InfinitiPro by Conair has extra-long 1-inch tourmaline ceramic floating plates with 30 different heat settings (maximum heat is 455 degree Fahrenheit) and an extra long swivel line cord. It is perfect for creating silky smooth, straight hair or shiny curls. You can use it whether you’re hair is delicate, medium, or thick and hard-to-straighten. AND it has an automatic shut-off feature. It only takes 15 seconds to heat up which means that you can style your hair pretty quickly. However, like our first pick, the settings do not indicate the temperature. Also, the handle can get very warm. The plates also do not completely close unless you put quite a bit of pressure on them. It also doesn’t feature a safety latch that will keep the flat iron closed when you put it down while it’s still hot.
My first ghds and I would highly recommend them they heat up in seconds and my hair stays straight for days.
Best iron ever.. Works wonders in just a few strokes and few minutes.
The Herstyler flat iron comes with a protective glove which will probably come in handy as this professional straightener can heat from 180°F up to 500°F. It makes it really good at straightening thick and frizzy hair, yet the controls don’t have exact numbers in between the minimum and the maximum, so you’re supposed to guess the current temperature.
If hair is pinned too tightly, or the whole updo slips causing pulling on the hair in the follicle at the hair root, it can cause aggravation to the hair follicle and result in headaches. Although some African-Americans may use braiding extensions (long term braiding hairstyle) as a form of convenience and/or as a reflection of personal style, it is important not to keep the braids up longer than needed to avoid hair breakage or hair loss. Proper braiding technique and maintenance can result in no hair damage even with repeated braid styles.
The Revlon Perfect Heat works best on partially dry hair. Hot air blows from inside the brush while the soft bristles spin to take the curl out of your hair. Alternatively, you can leave the ends of your hair curly while straightening the rest. You can also turn off the spin function if desired. The added benefit of a unit that has hot air blown from the inside is that you don’t have to wait for the straightener to heat up.

by far the best flat iron out there and I've tried them all. Unbelievably smooth use and finish. Floating plates are wonderful. No snagging at all and it leaves my hair silky and shiny with one pass. I have long thick wavy curly hair that I like to wear straight. I bought my first ghd 10 years ago. It still works wonderfully but I felt like it was time to buy a new one. I'm going to give the other one away to a teenager who wouldn't otherwise be able to buy one. I went and bought a chi thinking perhaps it may be better based on the popularity of the brand. I returned it. I also tried babyliss and after much research a croc and returned those as well. Neither gave me the silk and shine that the ghd does and the chi snagged my hair. Go with ghd. You won't regret it.

I'm so glad I finally bit the bullet and purchased the ghd straightener I had been eying it for years on sephora but could never shell out that much money. Needless to say I was really excited to find it for a discounted price on amazon. I was really skeptical after reading mixed reviews and warnings about receiving fakes. The straightener I got is completely legit and I was able to register it on the ghd website with no problems.i have very thick wavy medium length hair. With my old straightener a remington wet 2 straight I'd have to put it on the highest setting to get any results. In turn I got tons of split ends and my hair looked dry frizzy and damaged. The second I walked out the door my hair would immediately begin to poof up again I live in the south hello humidity . With the ghd straightener there are no heat settings. It heats up in seconds and automatically adjusts to the meet the needs of your hair. I was amazed at how it glided so easily throughout my hair and left my thick wavy hair pin straight after 1 pass instead of 3 or 4 or 5 like my old straightener. My hair doesn't get snagged anymore instead I'm left with shiny silky and healthy straight hair. Even my boyfriend noticed the difference the first time I used it I was also impressed that it stayed completely straight after spending time outside in 90 humidity.i am extremely pleased with this and it completely exceeds my expectations. I hope this lasts a long time
The great thing about beauty is that there is something for everyone. Even as the trend these days is skewing towards plenty of texture and heatless styling, the tried-and-true flatiron still has its place. I mean, with social media going crazy over the super-sleek look of glass hair, it's clear that straight hair ain't going anywhere. After all, some of us just want smooth strands from time to time — or, depending on who you are, most of the time. But pressing your hair between two scorching-hot plates can be a recipe for a dried, sizzled, frizzy disaster. Or at least it can be if you're using the wrong flatiron. On the flip side, using a good one can make all the world of difference. And that's where we come in. We've scoured the world of flatirons to bring you the best of the best, at a range of price points. So whether you've got the coins for an affordable Conair or can shell out the big bucks for a Harry Josh, these 20 straighteners will give you that just-back-from-the-salon look — minus the scorch.
In short YES! You absolutely can use too much heat on your hair. Burning hair is not a good smell, it’s not a good look either! You may end up having to get a pretty severe haircut if you’re not careful about the amount of heat you put directly on your locks. Read through this to get an idea of what’s safe and what will leave you wishing for a good trim (or possibly a wig).
Customers rave about it being great for fine hair, short hair and also very straight hair – it manages to generate good looking curls no matter what hair texture. However, it is not recommended for very long hair as the brush isn’t large enough to cope with a long, large amount.  Nevertheless, it’s a good all round styler that won’t break the bank  and features two attachments, 19mm and 23mm as well as a vent brush– an all-round superb budget styler.
Love it worth every dollar leaves hair smooth shines. Comes with registration for ghd for any warranty issues.
This Amazon bestseller has just about everything you’ll need in a hair straightener. The 1-inch plates are high quality ceramic and tourmaline plates for silky smooth results. These plates feature 8 HeatBalance microsensors that ensure temperature remains consistent and evenly distributed throughout. Plus, these are floating plates with curved edges so you don’t have to worry about snagging your hair while you style because the plates adjust the angle as you do your ‘do.
Great straighteners first pair for the missus and I think she is hooked. Loves the quick best up and thermal trip feature.
Perfect durable gets super hot in seconds I throw it in my bag and beat it up daily and it works great. No pulling great quality
Styling products aside from shampoo and conditioner are many and varied. Leave-in conditioner, conditioning treatments, mousse, gels, lotions, waxes, creams, clays, serums, oils, and sprays are used to change the texture or shape of the hair, or to hold it in place in a certain style. Applied properly, most styling products will not damage the hair apart from drying it out; most styling products contain alcohols, which can dissolve oils. Many hair products contain chemicals which can cause build-up, resulting in dull hair or a change in perceived texture.
I don't know why I waited so long to invest in this product. I held off because of the price but now that I own it it is worth every penny I have fine hair that is very curly wavy. This styler makes my hair straight smooth sleek and shinny and it lasts until the next shampoo. It heats up super quick and is very east to use. I have read other reviews about whether it is an original product because of where it was made. My styler says made in china . Some reviewers claim is not an authentic styler if it's not made in korea . My styler had the correct id label on it and I was able to register it on the ghd website. For now I highly recommend this product. As long as it continues to work for at least a year or more I will be very happy with my purchase.
Just what you expect from ghd the wife loves them and they do a fantastic job
