As far as we’re concerned, this is the best hair straightener we’ve tried. Not only does it heat up in record time (only 30 seconds until it hits 365°F), it’s also been lauded for its frizz fighting capabilities—as mentioned above, a must down South. What’s more, it lasts. One editor’s trusty Classic Styler is still going strong after 4 years of almost daily use.
We’ll admit, the $150 price tag did give us pause, but when it comes to applying high heat to our hair, we want to make sure the styling process is as quick and snag-free as possible. While a lower quality tool may save your budget in the short term, if its mechanics aren’t up to par it could require a few extra passes over your hair, which can wind up damaging your strands in the long run. With the GHD Classic Styler all you need is a quick glide in order to achieve perfectly smooth hair. The thin, rounded barrel even makes it ideal for mastering those loose waves you’ve been dreaming of.
Like all ghds, the IV heats to 185 degrees, which is perfect for creating a poker straight finish, glamorous curls or beachy waves. The floating aluminium plates make the styler easier to hold and control, while also ensuring those tell-tale dents in the hair are a thing of the past. Other features of the IV Styler include a 2.7 metre cable, an automatic shut down after 30 minutes, and universal voltage.
The ghd platinum+® styler gives you the perfect finish using ultra-zone with predictive technology that maintains a safer-for-hair heat from root to tip, reducing hair breakage* and increasing shine by 20%**. So now your hair can be stylish and healthy – all in one stroke. Alternatively, select the ghd max styler, which is the perfect straightener for long hair. With its cooler, lighter body and smoother plates it will glide through your hair to give you a salon finish every time.
Ghd Eclipse, the creme de la creme of Ghd Hair Straightners, tackles any hair texturequickly and easy. You get long lasting curls, leaving your hair glossy with an unbeatable shine. Outside of the styler is cool, it doesn't heat, which is better when curling your hair. This styler will also turn itself off fter 30 mins. This Styler is a Game Changer.
The secret to ghd's straightening success lies in those ceramic plates, which are rounded to let savvy users create curls and waves as well as the classically sleek poker-straight look. The plates smooth your hair as they straighten, calming frizz and leaving you with gorgeously glossy locks. The safety-conscious sleep mode means that they'll switch themselves off after 30 minutes, and since they're available in a wide range of colours including pink, purple, black and blue, you can even choose a style that matches your bedroom. All of ghd's straighteners and stylers come with cords at least 2.7m long, giving you the flexibility to position them within easy reach of a full-length mirror.
The GHD Classic Styler uses ceramic materials for its plates. With Ceramic plates for heaters, you’re sure to get shinier and smoother hair thanks to the device’s smooth and static free feature. The device is equipped with its own microprocessor to regulate faster heat conduction while its thermal fuse safety feature keeps the flat iron from overheating rapidly. To protect your hands from its hot grip, the GHD Styler is equipped with an outer case that regulates body heat.
I'm absolutely in love with my GHD. I've been wanting to buy one for a few years now but was a bit hesitant paying $240 (Australian) so when i seen them on sale i thought i would bite the bullet! I will never buy another brand again (I've used remington and babyliss) it heats up super quick, glides through the hair like butter and takes much less time as with previous straightners i've had to go over the same strand a few times and it left my hair frizzy and needing heaps of product to smooth it down! Definetly worth the money, has 2 years warranty and barely need to use any products except hot iron spray and a tiny amount of moroccan oil. The product curls my hair perfectly and would have got the one with wider plates for my thick long hair but wanted to be able to use it to curl. A must buy for those that use a straightener often.
I'm a journalism grad and avid makeup fan with an unhealthy addiction to buying nude lipsticks, no matter how similar they all may seem. I love chatting to anyone who will listen about my new favourite products, skincare dos and don'ts and practically any other beauty-related topic under the sun. That doesn't mean I'm frivolous with my recommendations, though--you can count on me to give you the nitty gritty on all your wishlist products. In my spare time, you'll find me binge-watching old episodes of Gilmore Girls or at brunch with a large iced coffee in my hand.
This is my second GHD flat iron. I had the first one for around 5 years. Any flat iron that lasts more than 1-2 years already gets points from me. I broke the cord on the old one but I liked that iron better than the ones I have used in the past (Chi), so I got a new GHD and went a step up from the classic styler to the this time. I can't remember what website I ordered it from but it was on sale. It was still expensive but knowing that my last one lasted for years it's cheaper than me buying a cheaper iron and needing to replace it yearly. It takes about 30 seconds to heat up, it does not have different temperature settings. When it's ready it makes noise, it startled me the first time because I wasn't expecting it lol. It sounds like a cell phone ring tone. Now I like it bc I know when it's ready to use. It comes with a little black silicone (I think) cover that slips over the plates so you can put that on and put it away while it's still hot, or if you're packing, throw it in your suitcase as soon as you're done using it. I have long, naturally thick frizzy curl, that I bleach, blow dry, basically put through torture! The humidity where I live has been AWFUL lately. There are days that I flat iron my hair and it looks great and smooth and I walk outside and it explodes. Unfortunately I think that until I find a miracle product or go back to getting keratin treatments, that's just the reality of my hair and the humidity. I dont think any flat iron will be able to miraculously lock out all humidity. I get my hair shinier and smoother with my GHD iron than with other irons I have used. Now, if I can learn how to master flat iron curls!

My previous GHD has lasted me 8 good years with no issues (I loved it!). Recently the wires on the chord have become exposed so my partner decided to replace it for my birthday. He went to hairhouse warehouse and the staff persuaded him to purchase a Halo instead after rubbishing the GHD. I used the Halo once and whilst I quite liked it, the outer plates were too hot to touch, which makes it difficult to style my hair (I use two hands and twist for a wave effect). I went back to the store to change over to a GHD. The staff member warned me that the quality of GHDs is poor after changing manufacturers about 4 years ago. I wasn't worried though as I thought she was pushing Halo for incentive reasons. I used the GHD for the second time this week and when I plugged it in it made a pop sound like the fuse had blown - it shortcut the circuit in most the house. I then plugged it into a working socket and put the tongs to my fringe - it melted/burnt my hair immediately after being on there for a split second. There is literally melted hair all over the plate tongs and I can't get rid of the smell of burnt hair. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.

BUYER BEWARE: I bought this from Amazon LLC, but the product would NOT register as authentic on ghd's site. I tried the hologram code and date code multiple times, but the site wouldn't verify the numbers. Also there was no country of manufacture listed on the unit, the box or the booklet. The styler looked great and was packaged well. Did the unit and stickers look authentic? Yes in every way. But the ghd site states: "fake ghd products are virtually impossible to spot." I called ghd, and a rep said sometimes legit numbers aren't accepted by the site (?!) - and told me that sometimes fake numbers go through. So in the end not sure what good the checker does. The rep did add that "Amazon is not an authorized dealer for ghd products." And the rep echoed what another reviewer said, "the only way to authenticate a styler not bought from us or an authorized dealer is to send it in to the warehouse." That's too much trouble for anyone. Is the one I bought legit? I just can't tell for sure. I'm not taking the risk. Returning it to Amazon.

For curling, place a section of hair between the plates closest to the scalp, clamp the plates, and turn styler through 180 degrees while holding the end of the strand. Pull styler through the hair slowly, always maintaining the 180 degree turn--it helps to slightly tip the nose of the styler downward, careful not to let the hair fall out. It also helps to pull the strand forward when trying to curl hair at the back of the head.
