Upon learning about the new ghd Gold, one question quickly came to mind when the intrigue settled down — how does the new product stack up against ghd’s other models? If you’re a longtime fan of the brand, you will have seen numerous stylers hit the market to rave reviews, so it can get a little confusing when it comes down to making that big choice.
Achieve seductive soft movement: Mist hair with ghd heat protect spray. Section the hair and lightly mist with a curl hold spray to add shine and hold when styling. Place a fine section of hair between the plates of your ghd Gold Styler vertically 1 inch away from the root. Gently close the styler with minimum tension. Turn the styler clockwise by 90 degrees. For a soft curl, pull the styler quickly through the hair away from the head in one continuous smooth movement. An s-shaped vertical curl is created. To complete the style, repeat through all sections. Finally, separate and brush out the curls with a wide-tooth comb.
Bought these on recommendation of my hairdresser to deal with my chemo damaged hair. Thankfully I didn't lose my hair but it did go really thin during treatment. 18 months on from treatment my once fine, straight and easily managed hair has come back in thick with random curly and wavy bits. My old straighteners which had served me well over the years were snagging, pulling and breaking both the damaged and newly growing hair but these ones glide through the hair with hardly any breakage. I'm absolutely in love with my GHD.I will never buy another brand again. It heats up super quick, glides through the hair like silk and takes alot less time as with previous straightners i've had to go over the same strand a few times and it left my hair frizzy/flyaway and meant i had to use products to smooth it down! I dont really need to use any products except hot iron spray or cream protectant and a tiny amount of serum afterwards. The GHD also curls my hair perfectly, now that ive mastered the technique ;-)
For curling, place a section of hair between the plates closest to the scalp, clamp the plates, and turn styler through 180 degrees while holding the end of the strand. Pull styler through the hair slowly, always maintaining the 180 degree turn--it helps to slightly tip the nose of the styler downward, careful not to let the hair fall out. It also helps to pull the strand forward when trying to curl hair at the back of the head.
The great thing about the GHD Classic 1-inch Styler is that it’s so simple to use and it simply works as advertised. You receive a truly helpful instruction manual, and there’s a DVD too to illustrate how you can use the GHD Classic 1-inch Styler correctly. In other words, you will get hair that looks healthy, silky and shiny, and these will be very noticeable—even to notoriously non-observant husbands and boyfriends.
Against the ghd IV Styler: Although the IV Styler is one of the original products in the ghd range, it’s still pretty beloved amongst customers, especially because of its affordable price. Unlike the new ghd Gold Professional Styler, though, this product only boasts one sensor that stretches across both plates, meaning it’s less intuitive at heating your hair.
To achieve straight, sleek locks: Mist hair with GHD Heat Protect Spray (sold separately) and place a fine section of dry hair between the plates of your GHD Professional Styler. Ensure that the styler is as close to the root as possible before closing the plates. Gently move toward the tip of the section in one simple gliding motion. Repeat the process with each section of hair, gliding once from roots to ends.
I'm a journalism grad and avid makeup fan with an unhealthy addiction to buying nude lipsticks, no matter how similar they all may seem. I love chatting to anyone who will listen about my new favourite products, skincare dos and don'ts and practically any other beauty-related topic under the sun. That doesn't mean I'm frivolous with my recommendations, though--you can count on me to give you the nitty gritty on all your wishlist products. In my spare time, you'll find me binge-watching old episodes of Gilmore Girls or at brunch with a large iced coffee in my hand.
To have straight hair, you just mist your hair with the GHD thermal protector. You then start at the part of the hair that’s closest to the roots, and then you glide the GHD Classic 1-inch Styler to the tips in one smooth stroke. You can also follow the easy directions for soft movement and for curls, which involve some turning while you glide from root to end.
My very first GHD styler. I purchased this before cosmetology school and it worked for my extremely coarse hair. I used it quite often on myself and when I enrolled I used my GHD on my clients and it’s honestly top quality for a brand that’s accessible to at home use. I found this flatiron more consistent than the professional irons in my cosmetology kit.
Where abouts do you keep your hair straightener? As it may be because its cold or has condensation inside it. This may sound funny but you actually shouldnt keep your GHD in the bathroom cause they can get cold and dont like it, or if u want to keep it in the bathroom then wrap it in a towel. This may fix the problem. If not then call GHD and you may be able to get a replacement. Hope this helps :)

I purchased this ghd after a hairdresser friend used hers on my hair. I couldn't believe how well it worked so I purchased the same model. I have curly frizzy hair and this straightener actually makes my hair shiny and even holds my hair straight if my hair gets wet in the rain. I use a hair straightening treatment on my hair before I use the ghd as you should with any straightener and this keeps my hair from becoming brittle. I have lovely comments about my hair since using it. It feels very soft and is healthy. I can adjust the heat setting so it does not get too hot. It is very quick to heat up and beeps when it is ready unlike others I have tried .It is so simple and quick to use. Because it is the wider ghd I can do my hair in less than five minutes. I have long hair past my shoulders. Very happy with this one.

For me, the first and still very best of all ceramic stylers [and my dad is a hairdresser too]. It heats up fast, cools down relatively fast, works wonderfully and lasts a long time. In 11 years, I've bought two such stylers. The first one eventually died after 6 years of daily use, rarely skipping a day, while my second one is still going strong. I have no reason to recommend any other styler but this one. My hair is long and very fine.
