I worked in the hair industry for a while so I've used a lot of high end flat irons and I got to say, this one did not impress me at all. I'd never used a GHD before this btw (none of the stylists I know have one) but I ended up ordering the GHD classic styler--which btw seems to be the same as the "IV styler"--instead of the CHI Turbo due to the fact that at the time, the GHD was on sale and basically the same price yet it offered more versatility (the turbo has a velvet cover so you can't use it to curl).
This is my current go to styler at home. The one inch plates work perfectly for medium length hair. I don’t recommend using this plate size for longer hair , as it can be a task. The plates heat up and beep in about 60 seconds making this a necessity for busy people as well as a busy and timely stylist. There is also a hard plastic sleeve to cover the plates so it can be packed away quickly. They heat up to 450°f so that’s useful when traveling.
Among other accolades, the brand has appeared on The Salon and Australia’s Next Top Model and was also the first hair styling tool sponsor of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Its products are loved and endorsed by such A-list celebs as Jennifer Aniston, Madonna and Posh Spice herself, Victoria Beckham and Katy Perry has been the face of the brand since 2011.
I have just up graded my GHD. I purchased the pink one for $280 as it was the only one the salon had. When u section your hair to straighten, the flat irons don't seem to come together 3/4 of the way but on the very tip of them, it pinches my hair and rips it out. It's nothing like my old one that I've had for about 10 years. Have you changed manufacturers ?
