The GHD Classic Styler uses ceramic materials for its plates. With Ceramic plates for heaters, you’re sure to get shinier and smoother hair thanks to the device’s smooth and static free feature. The device is equipped with its own microprocessor to regulate faster heat conduction while its thermal fuse safety feature keeps the flat iron from overheating rapidly. To protect your hands from its hot grip, the GHD Styler is equipped with an outer case that regulates body heat.
I'm a journalism grad and avid makeup fan with an unhealthy addiction to buying nude lipsticks, no matter how similar they all may seem. I love chatting to anyone who will listen about my new favourite products, skincare dos and don'ts and practically any other beauty-related topic under the sun. That doesn't mean I'm frivolous with my recommendations, though--you can count on me to give you the nitty gritty on all your wishlist products. In my spare time, you'll find me binge-watching old episodes of Gilmore Girls or at brunch with a large iced coffee in my hand.
In 2001, ghd revolutionised the hair styling industry with the launch of the first ghd hair straightener. An instant hairstyling phenomenon; ceramic heat technology was introduced to create smooth, sleek results that lasted. Since creating the original professional styler, ghd have continued to work with ghd scientists and stylists to develop innovative, breakthrough technology to ensure that all ghd stylers style faster and give amazing results; whatever your hair type.
This is an expensive straightener, but it's worth every penny! I've had mine now for over a year, and I know I'll have it for many years to come. The iron itself is black and gold. I have long, thick, straight hair, but it gets a little wavy underneath if I let it air dry. If I blow dry it, it gets a little poofy and I use this to give it a more smooth, sleek look. It takes a couple passes of going over my hair before it's completely straight, but with cheaper ones it takes longer. It doesn't take too long to do all of my hair. It heats up super fast, and if I'm in a hurry and forget to turn it off, it turns off by itself after thirty minutes. I have dropped it a few times, and it's still going strong. I recommend this for everyone.
Contact GHD asap. That's how I knew something was off with my straightener. The first time it happened the same thing to me, I turned it off, removed from the plug and waited and tried to turn it on again but I still get the red light flashing on and off. I tried doing it for a few times but still had the same issue so I contacted GHD and they replaced my straightener but after a few months it happened again. It sucks because for the price we pay for these straighteners we expect quality but unfortunately it isn't the case with these products.
Against the ghd Platinum Styler: On the other hand, the Platinum Styler features more sensors and heaters than the new ghd Gold. This essentially means it will heat the hair quicker, and is a little safer in terms of heat delivery, too. Six sensors and heaters work to deliver optimal heat to the hair, instinctively adjusting to give you a transformative experience. Where this is the top-of-the-range choice, the ghd Gold Professional Styler sits perfectly in the middle, a great mix of affordability and professional quality.
This is my current go to styler at home. The one inch plates work perfectly for medium length hair. I don’t recommend using this plate size for longer hair , as it can be a task. The plates heat up and beep in about 60 seconds making this a necessity for busy people as well as a busy and timely stylist. There is also a hard plastic sleeve to cover the plates so it can be packed away quickly. They heat up to 450°f so that’s useful when traveling.
The great thing about the GHD Classic 1-inch Styler is that it’s so simple to use and it simply works as advertised. You receive a truly helpful instruction manual, and there’s a DVD too to illustrate how you can use the GHD Classic 1-inch Styler correctly. In other words, you will get hair that looks healthy, silky and shiny, and these will be very noticeable—even to notoriously non-observant husbands and boyfriends.
Like all ghds, the IV heats to 185 degrees, which is perfect for creating a poker straight finish, glamorous curls or beachy waves. The floating aluminium plates make the styler easier to hold and control, while also ensuring those tell-tale dents in the hair are a thing of the past. Other features of the IV Styler include a 2.7 metre cable, an automatic shut down after 30 minutes, and universal voltage.
I worked in the hair industry for a while so I've used a lot of high end flat irons and I got to say, this one did not impress me at all. I'd never used a GHD before this btw (none of the stylists I know have one) but I ended up ordering the GHD classic styler--which btw seems to be the same as the "IV styler"--instead of the CHI Turbo due to the fact that at the time, the GHD was on sale and basically the same price yet it offered more versatility (the turbo has a velvet cover so you can't use it to curl).
When it comes to hair talk, a hairstylists’ arsenal is never complete without that one special device that can style and straighten hair at the same time. GHD Classic Styler Ceramic Hair Straightener happens to be that one special device. It can curl, flip, wave, and straighten hair easily, but with great features come a few drawbacks. Should you be adding this hair styling weapon to your stash soon?
Featuring advanced ceramic heat technology, the ghd Gold Professional Performance 2" Styler is designed to operate at the optimum 365°F styling temperature for healthy-looking hair with enhanced, lustrous shine. Styling thicker, longer hair is quicker and easier thanks to the larger plates that glide through strands without snagging for fast, effortless styling and flawlessly polished strands. It heats up in as little as 30 seconds to tame frizz and transform coarse textures into sleek, smooth styles that last. The styler has contoured, round edges to unleash undulating waves, and with its styling versatility, you can change your look every day.
For me, the first and still very best of all ceramic stylers [and my dad is a hairdresser too]. It heats up fast, cools down relatively fast, works wonderfully and lasts a long time. In 11 years, I've bought two such stylers. The first one eventually died after 6 years of daily use, rarely skipping a day, while my second one is still going strong. I have no reason to recommend any other styler but this one. My hair is long and very fine.
