Bought these on recommendation of my hairdresser to deal with my chemo damaged hair. Thankfully I didn't lose my hair but it did go really thin during treatment. 18 months on from treatment my once fine, straight and easily managed hair has come back in thick with random curly and wavy bits. My old straighteners which had served me well over the years were snagging, pulling and breaking both the damaged and newly growing hair but these ones glide through the hair with hardly any breakage. My previous GHD has lasted me 8 good years with no issues (I loved it!). Recently the wires on the chord have become exposed so my partner decided to replace it for my birthday. He went to hairhouse warehouse and the staff persuaded him to purchase a Halo instead after rubbishing the GHD. I used the Halo once and whilst I quite liked it, the outer plates were too hot to touch, which makes it difficult to style my hair (I use two hands and twist for a wave effect). I went back to the store to change over to a GHD. The staff member warned me that the quality of GHDs is poor after changing manufacturers about 4 years ago. I wasn't worried though as I thought she was pushing Halo for incentive reasons. I used the GHD for the second time this week and when I plugged it in it made a pop sound like the fuse had blown - it shortcut the circuit in most the house. I then plugged it into a working socket and put the tongs to my fringe - it melted/burnt my hair immediately after being on there for a split second. There is literally melted hair all over the plate tongs and I can't get rid of the smell of burnt hair. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.
Best flat iron, 2 year warranty when bought from the website. Don’t have to adjust any heat settings you just flip the switch on. Smooths out all hair textures hair really well! And if you forget to turn it off the heat element shuts off and the flat iron beeps at you until you manually push the switch to off which is amazing since lots of us forget to turn off our flat iron after use.
This is an expensive straightener, but it's worth every penny! I've had mine now for over a year, and I know I'll have it for many years to come. The iron itself is black and gold. I have long, thick, straight hair, but it gets a little wavy underneath if I let it air dry. If I blow dry it, it gets a little poofy and I use this to give it a more smooth, sleek look. It takes a couple passes of going over my hair before it's completely straight, but with cheaper ones it takes longer. It doesn't take too long to do all of my hair. It heats up super fast, and if I'm in a hurry and forget to turn it off, it turns off by itself after thirty minutes. I have dropped it a few times, and it's still going strong. I recommend this for everyone.

We’ll admit, the $150 price tag did give us pause, but when it comes to applying high heat to our hair, we want to make sure the styling process is as quick and snag-free as possible. While a lower quality tool may save your budget in the short term, if its mechanics aren’t up to par it could require a few extra passes over your hair, which can wind up damaging your strands in the long run. With the GHD Classic Styler all you need is a quick glide in order to achieve perfectly smooth hair. The thin, rounded barrel even makes it ideal for mastering those loose waves you’ve been dreaming of.

I got this recently since it was somewhat affordable and I was in desperate need of a replacement flat iron. I didnt plan on it becoming my main styling tool but for the affordability of this tool, I am SO impressed with the quality! It heats up in a matter of seconds, gets super hot which means a lightening fast styling time, and it's available from Nordstrom which is my favorite retailer to shop!

This iron claims to heat up in 15 seconds; it also claims to use some bullshit technology that allows it to "self adjust" temperature according to hair type. Well it got warm but it sure as hell didn't heat up enough to seriously straighten or curl my hair in a mere 15 seconds--in fact, I found that it didn't ever straighten my hair enough to satisfy me.
Achieve seductive soft movement: Mist hair with ghd heat protect spray. Section the hair and lightly mist with a curl hold spray to add shine and hold when styling. Place a fine section of hair between the plates of your ghd Gold Styler vertically 1 inch away from the root. Gently close the styler with minimum tension. Turn the styler clockwise by 90 degrees. For a soft curl, pull the styler quickly through the hair away from the head in one continuous smooth movement. An s-shaped vertical curl is created. To complete the style, repeat through all sections. Finally, separate and brush out the curls with a wide-tooth comb.
This overpriced iron is good if you have naturally fine, soft or wavy hair. If you have coarse, thick hair it will not do the job, or it will take you several passes. This is not unique to the GHD, this applies to ALL CERAMIC straighteners. The Auto shut off and dual voltage is awesome, but it is not worth it if the iron does not provide sleek, durable straight hair. If you have kinky, unruly, poofy hair go with TItanium, hand down!!
