For me, the first and still very best of all ceramic stylers [and my dad is a hairdresser too]. It heats up fast, cools down relatively fast, works wonderfully and lasts a long time. In 11 years, I've bought two such stylers. The first one eventually died after 6 years of daily use, rarely skipping a day, while my second one is still going strong. I have no reason to recommend any other styler but this one. My hair is long and very fine.
Like all ghds, the IV heats to 185 degrees, which is perfect for creating a poker straight finish, glamorous curls or beachy waves. The floating aluminium plates make the styler easier to hold and control, while also ensuring those tell-tale dents in the hair are a thing of the past. Other features of the IV Styler include a 2.7 metre cable, an automatic shut down after 30 minutes, and universal voltage.
We’ll admit, the $150 price tag did give us pause, but when it comes to applying high heat to our hair, we want to make sure the styling process is as quick and snag-free as possible. While a lower quality tool may save your budget in the short term, if its mechanics aren’t up to par it could require a few extra passes over your hair, which can wind up damaging your strands in the long run. With the GHD Classic Styler all you need is a quick glide in order to achieve perfectly smooth hair. The thin, rounded barrel even makes it ideal for mastering those loose waves you’ve been dreaming of.
The great thing about the GHD Classic 1-inch Styler is that it’s so simple to use and it simply works as advertised. You receive a truly helpful instruction manual, and there’s a DVD too to illustrate how you can use the GHD Classic 1-inch Styler correctly. In other words, you will get hair that looks healthy, silky and shiny, and these will be very noticeable—even to notoriously non-observant husbands and boyfriends.
It did get straight and it didn't pull or drag on my hair which was nice, but it took twice as long as it usually does (and lately i've been using a $35 flat iron I got from Amazon!) due to the fact that I had to go over and over it in increasingly smaller sections. I already use thin sections so this was just ridiculous. What annoyed me was that even after all this my hair remained poufy and never really got that shine I usually get. My hair btw, isn't even curly it's more wavy/frizzy/poufy--so I don't require tons of product or anything like that bc straightening my hair has always been an easy no-fuss affair. Usually, it takes like, one pass to get'er done.
In 2001, ghd revolutionized the way women styled their hair with the launch of its first styler - a professional tool designed for salon use that could also be easily used at home. ghd continues to be one of the leader and innovator in hair styling with its range of professional brushes, hair straighteners and hair dryers, and ghd Style styling products.
GHD Classic Styler, from the name itself, you can deduce that this simple yet versatile device was made to style and straighten. Armed with a rounded barrel and advanced ceramic heaters, you can curl, flip, tease, wave, and straighten any hair type and texture easily without damaging your hair’s external surface. The infra-red heat technology infused within the plates also releases more negative ions than other products so your hair’s natural oils and luster are retained despite repeated exposure to maximum heat.
