It may surprise you what less than $50 can get you when shopping for flat irons at stores like Target, Ulta, Amazon and more, but trust the hundreds of reviews calling these bargain buys the real deal. Especially if you consider using hot tools only when you need an extra level of polish, or to quickly smooth out hair when you're in a pinch, the industry's cheaper picks are more than suitable to your needs — don't bother shelling out a significant portion of your paycheck for a high-priced hot tool that'll go unused more often than not.
Less common but still worth mentioning are “hybrid” styles of hair brush straighteners. Some are similar to a flat iron but with bristles on each of the plates, while others have a rotating barrel on one side and a plate with bristles on the other. You’ll also see lots of inexpensive, non-heated straightener brushes, but we won’t be focusing on those in our reviews.
I've used these straighter for years and love them. They get so hot and I can do my thick hair in a few minutes. Plus they are salon level so have the extra long cord. However it sounds like you need to buy from the ghd website. I did and it arrived pretty fast about a week I think you know its genuine and the price is the same at 150.

Very well presented straightener that is fairly heavy and robust. My partner had a ghd for many years before this and was always really happy. This is even better. It comes with a nice bag but not much else. It heats up fast and does a really good job. I hope this will be just as relaible as her previous ghd model.

The shorter your hair is, the narrower plates you need to straighten it properly. I have to admit, most flat irons don’t work well on really short hair. The most common width of plates is something about 1 inch, at least in my rating. If you have really long locks you can try a straightener with 2-inches long plates – for instance, the Xtava flat iron.

So, when it comes to hair care, it is no surprise that the healing benefits of infrared technology would make their way into the industry sooner or later! The far infrared technology in the CHI Air Expert Classic Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron leaves your hair looking and feeling smoother and silkier than ever before, while helping to restore your strands to their naturally strong and beautiful thickness.

Love ghd this was the cheapest price if your shopping around

In short YES! You absolutely can use too much heat on your hair. Burning hair is not a good smell, it’s not a good look either! You may end up having to get a pretty severe haircut if you’re not careful about the amount of heat you put directly on your locks. Read through this to get an idea of what’s safe and what will leave you wishing for a good trim (or possibly a wig).
I had been eyeing this styler for a while and as much as I would've liked to save up to a 100 purchasing it here my peace of mind was worth the 60 80 dollar difference. This an expensive professional item that would not grant its 2 year guarantee if purchased from a non official distributor. I purchased from sephora and I'm incredibly happy with the product. It provides salon quality results so I see it as an investment instead of splurge. But if you're concerned both about the legitimacy as well as as the guarantee coverage of this product when purchasing from third party vendors like I was go ahead and spend the extra money. It might save you a lot of headaches and money in the end.
still have my ghd to this day and love it my daughter has one also. Literally only takes seconds to heat up and beeps when ready. It gets hot and I mean hot so I use a heat styling product with it. I can't tell you how many times I decided at the last minute I needed to straighten and I only had 10 15 minutes or even 5 for a real quick top layer straightening as apposed to 40 60 minutes. I was able to plug it in turn it on and within seconds it was hot and ready to go I know it's pricey but it has great bones and I love the ceramic plates on it. It really is an outstanding and superior product compared to the stuff sold at your corner pharmacy or other large nearby retailer.

I was stung once buying some fake ghds online but these are the real deal. They are perfect. I ve been using them for years and my last pair gave up after five years of daily use.
I used to use a flatiron which doesn't curl the hair very well..leaves a crease in the hair. The ghd styler is awesome for both curling and straightening awesome product
best service and great price.
I had a solia flat iron that just died after about 8 years I looked to repurchase the same brand but it looks as though it no longer gets good reviews. Ugh... So after a few days of reading reviews and such I went with the ghd. I wasn't sure I would like not having control of the temperature. I have long curly frizzy hair. I usually use a higher then should temp. 400 ...anyway took a chance and really like it thus far. It doesn't get as hot as my solia but it straightens quicker how's that possible and the 1 inch makes it easy to curl my ends. Love it so far. Hopefully it lasts me as long as my solia.
For those of you who want long, smooth hair, then have a look through our collection of hair straighteners to find the right kit for you. While straighteners of old used to give you straight hair that was dry and brittle, new straighteners feature temperature controls, heat sensors and other technology to keep your hair healthy and happy during and after the heating process.

hot immediately smooth easy to use recommended by my hairstylists and well worth the money have not owned a chi so can't compare.

I love it so much I hope it never break

True ghd product gets hot as soon as you turn it on. My fianc absolutely loves it. I will definitely continue to use amazon in the future.

The ability to create bouncy curls or waves with a flat iron (we know, it seems counter-intuitive!) is a biggie in the beauty industry and merits a bit more discussion. If you’re totally lost and there aren’t enough video tutorials on the planet to explain this weird yet awesome process, don’t worry! Just follow along with our step-by-step guide and you will be curling with the best of them in no time!
I bought this not to straighten my hair but to add long lasting curls. Once you get the hang of it this works great. My curls stay in longer than when I use a curling iron or hot rollers.
The shorter your hair is, the narrower plates you need to straighten it properly. I have to admit, most flat irons don’t work well on really short hair. so let me clear up some of the mixed reviews. When you click on the link to this straightener the ghd classic styler the item is sold by different sellers. So someone who buys today may not buy from the same place that had the straightener yesterday. Which explains why some have received fakes. Click on the seller read the reviews about them do your research.however with that being said I purchased mine from salon logistix my ghd was authentic and I was able register it with the ghd site. I straightened my hair 30 minutes ago with it and am so happy with my purchase. I have natural caucasian hair but my waves are deep and usually take a couple passes to go away. This straightener ironed them out in about 2 passes. It heats up in seconds makes little beeps when turned on and hot and never snagged my hair huge problem with my chi . I would definitely recommend this straightener I previously paid 250 for a t3 mane tamer this ghd does just as well and for less than half the price
I don't use the straightener very often but it has worked great for me. Gets very hot very quickly and does what it is suppose to do.
Ceramic irons heat up quickly and distribute heat evenly. These irons don’t have cool spots so you can be sure to get an even straightening every single time. These are ideal for those with fine, thin strands. Just be aware that not all flat irons marketed as ‘ceramic’ are pure ceramic. Some only feature a ceramic coating which wears off over time, causing damage to your hair.

my first ghd styler. I was super skeptical about the purchase considering the 50 difference on their website. I was able to register it so I'm thrilled to say it's the real deal though I haven't tried it in my hair yet I know what to expect...
Bought as christmas gift so not opened as such but bought my wife the last ghd straighteners 10 years ago and they are still going strong paid 40 more for latested ones purchased but 10 year no problems is remarkable and shows quality in product
Best hair straightener I've ever used. Had for years still working
Ultra-zone with predictive technology is the latest breakthrough in heat styling which guarantees homogeneous heat across the whole plate, allowing consistent beautiful results in one stroke. The heat is monitored 250 times per second so that it’s constantly at the optimum 365°F styling temperature for even healthier hair. It personalizes power with its predictive technology, which recognizes the thickness of your hair and the speed at which you are styling and adjusts accordingly—so you get unbeatable results quicker and personalized to you!
my daughter is loving having ghd for the first time and am loving it so she stops using mine
Available with either ceramic plates (good for all hair types) or titanium ones (choice for curly, thick, and coarse textures), this innovative styler features touch sensor technology that lowers the heat when it's not being used, then automatically brings it back up to temp as soon as it's touched. Translation: No more waiting for your iron to heat up in between passes. Use it for smooth and sleek styles, or take advantage of the round brush-esque attachments to create more of a bouncy blowout effect.
Hello, ladies! This is Monica, the founder of the MyStraightener blog. In this post, I’m going to tell you about the best flat irons on the market so far and some other hair straighteners. I will also give you some tips and tricks on how to choose the best straightening iron for your hair type. At the end of the post, I’m going to answer the most common questions about using flat irons. Gosh, we have so much to discuss! I hope you have some leisure time =)
I was really nervous in buying a new ghd previous one broke on me after using it for a good 3 years and treating it not very caringly but ive been using this one daily and it is of exactly the same wonderful quality that my previous ghd straightener was. It comes in the box with the authenticity card with a code so if you want you can go to the ghd website and punch in the code to see if it is real or fake. I have naturally wavy thin hair and it gets dry tangled and damaged easily.. Recently got fringe bangs and normal drugstore straighteners will just make my bangs stiff and more dry but the ghd has its way of making my hair look and feel even more hydrated than it is and very naturally silky. Thank you

I tried to break everything up on the chart by category so it’s easier to narrow things down, but you have to keep in mind there is a ton of overlap in styling tools. You can have large ceramic tourmaline and small titanium steam as well as just about a thousand other options. The point is, although my table is here for those of you who already have an idea of what you want, there is a small chance you might end up looking at something with a few extra bells and whistles because there is so much overlap. If you’re not sure what different kinds of irons there are, head over to my buying guide so you can get that all sorted out before you start reading the reviews.

this is my second ghd my first lasted 10 years. Does not break hair. My hair is thick but fine and breaks easily. I have no problems with it. Hope this one lasts another 10 years

It wouldn’t be fair to highlight a straightening brush that’s great for thick hair without also selecting a product that’s best for extremely thin or damaged hair. The MiroPure has 16 different heat settings and is capable of reaching 450° to straighten all types of thick and normal hair. What’s most notable, though, is that it can straighten hair at temperatures as low as 170°, perfect for very thin hair that’s likely to be fried at higher temperatures. It’s difficult to find a model suitable for that type of hair; the review team recommends the MiroPure.
So in the last two years I had been using chi straightens...both broke within a year. My next instinct was to do some flat iron research and came up with the ghd gold flat iron. The price made me nervous being that I've never tried it yet however I was desperate and knew that it would somewhat meet my needs. It's been a month that I've been using this heaven sent product and I have absolutely no regrets.it warms up in literally 10 seconds and gives you a beeping sound when it's ready. One slide through the hair will give you a straight look. I have semi wavy hair so I just apply my heat protectant and flat iron sections and within 15 minutes I'm done you won't regret this purchase. It's also dual voltage which helps me out big time due to travelling.
Due in large part to the damage we inflicted on our poor locks during this time, we’ve learned that heat protection isn’t just a luxury: it’s mandatory when it comes to hair straightening. That’s why so many hair straighteners now feature conditioners built right into the plates. We also learned that excess heat can cause permanent damage to hair, so now many flat irons come with automatic turn-off features or self-adjusting heat settings. Well, as the saying goes, there is no progress without a bit of struggle and our hair certainly struggled during the early 2000’s!
From the 16th to the 19th century, European women's hair became more visible while their hair coverings grew smaller, with both becoming more elaborate, and with hairstyles beginning to include ornamentation such as flowers, ostrich plumes, ropes of pearls, jewels, ribbons and small crafted objects such as replicas of ships and windmills.[14][21] Bound hair was felt to be symbolic of propriety: loosening one's hair was considered immodest and sexual, and sometimes was felt to have supernatural connotations.[22] Red hair was popular, particularly in England during the reign of the red-haired Elizabeth I, and women and aristocratic men used borax, saltpeter, saffron and sulfur powder to dye their hair red, making themselves nauseated and giving themselves headaches and nosebleeds.[12][23] During this period in Spain and Latin cultures, women wore lace mantillas, often worn over a high comb,[14][24] and in Buenos Aires, there developed a fashion for extremely large tortoise-shell hair combs called peinetón, which could measure up to three feet in height and width, and which are said by historians to have reflected the growing influence of France, rather than Spain, upon Argentinians.[25]
GHD went and nabbed itself a 2018 Best of Beauty award with this miracle of a flatiron. The tool maintains a constant temperature of 365 degrees Fahrenheit, but get this: It reads the thickness or thinness of the sections you use so it can adjust the amount of power it exerts. That way, it keeps the same temperature while straightening your hair and gets all the sections evenly straight without you having to worry too much about heat damage. "My hair felt relatively healthy after ironing which I am not used to," says Tracey Zane, director of content development for Allure. "The tool moves much effortlessly across my hair, and actually makes it feel silky smooth once ironing."
Fine or thinning hair can easily become damaged under too much heat, so cooler temperatures (i.e., those under 300° F) are ideal for these hair types. If you have very curly, course, or thick hair, then higher temperatures upwards of 400° F may be more suitable to your needs. With the ISA Professional Titanium Flat Iron, you can cool it down to 265° F if need be and also crank it up to a whopping 450° F for textured styled.
The Glamfields straightener, like most of our top-ranked models, releases negative ions to fight frizz while preventing split ends and knotting. Performance, though, sets it apart from the pack. Hair is straightened beautifully and quickly with the unit’s metal ceramic heater requiring just a 40-second warm-up, eliminating a long wait for the brush to reach temperature. And speaking of temperature, there are 12 heat settings ranging from 250° (ideal for brittle hair) to 450° (hot enough to straighten extremely thick or wavy hair).

got my ghd classic 1 inch styler straightener today and was able to register it on the ghd site with no problem. I was a little hesitant to purchase through amazon b c of a few scary reviews that people had received fakes. If this one is a fake at least I was able to register it with non problem and will get a guaranteed from ghd as a replacement. I dont for see having any problems... I purchased this ghd straightener as a replacement to the one I purchased off amazon well over 4 1 2 years ago it just died last week . I loved my last ghd straightener good luck

There are 12 heat settings on this brush with a selectable temperature range from 250-450°, so it can be used on all types of hair even though it’s best on thick locks. However, this model does not generate negative ions, which are the best weapon against frizz and create smoother, shinier hair. (The AsaVea 4 does use ionic technology and sells for a similar price, but the review team prefers the 3.0 because it uses MCH for more consistent heat delivery, doesn’t have brush tips that can catch on hair, and has more heat settings.)
Given its tiny stature, it is no surprise that the BaByliss Pro Nano Titanium Straightening Iron is ideal for users with short or medium hair lengths. Unlike the more industrial models we reviewed that are designed for longer or thicker hair, this BaByliss hair straightener is small and light enough to polish off a short bob or shoulder-length style in no time.

ghd styler is the best. Had it for years
