I purchased this ghd after a hairdresser friend used hers on my hair. I couldn't believe how well it worked so I purchased the same model. I have curly frizzy hair and this straightener actually makes my hair shiny and even holds my hair straight if my hair gets wet in the rain. I use a hair straightening treatment on my hair before I use the ghd as you should with any straightener and this keeps my hair from becoming brittle. I have lovely comments about my hair since using it. It feels very soft and is healthy. I can adjust the heat setting so it does not get too hot. It is very quick to heat up and beeps when it is ready unlike others I have tried .It is so simple and quick to use. Because it is the wider ghd I can do my hair in less than five minutes. I own the GHD V Sapphire Styler and I am in love with it. It straightens through my medium to fine , puffy curly hair nicely reducing it to a sleek , straight and soft state. The box it comes in is really petty and you usually can purchase the iron as part of a set with another product such as a comb to styling spray, depending on where you get it from. It can be petty expensive but will last you the best part of a decade. The styler is create to curl, wave to straighten your hair and it heats up really fast and glides through your hair magically. However it makes it alittle bit trickier to curl/wave hair because it doesn't have much grip on your hair but usually the straighteners will gain alittle more grip the longer you use them (what I found with my iv styler).
Best flat iron, 2 year warranty when bought from the website. Don’t have to adjust any heat settings you just flip the switch on. Smooths out all hair textures hair really well! And if you forget to turn it off the heat element shuts off and the flat iron beeps at you until you manually push the switch to off which is amazing since lots of us forget to turn off our flat iron after use.

Turn the styler clockwise by 90 degrees. For an intense stunning curl, continue to turn the styler by another 90 degrees as you glide from root to end; pull the styler very slowly away from the head in a continuous smooth movement. For a softer curl, pull the styler quickly through the hair away from the head in one continuous smooth movement. An S-shaped vertical curl is created. To complete the style, repeat through all sections. Finally, separate and brush out the curls with your fingers for more extreme curls, or with a wide-tooth comb for soft, loose waves.

Where abouts do you keep your hair straightener? As it may be because its cold or has condensation inside it. This may sound funny but you actually shouldnt keep your GHD in the bathroom cause they can get cold and dont like it, or if u want to keep it in the bathroom then wrap it in a towel. This may fix the problem. If not then call GHD and you may be able to get a replacement. Hope this helps :)

* * * Update: After returning the above-described item, I bought a ghd Classic Styler in-person from one of their authorized salon dealers (info at ghd's site). When I went to register the hologram and date codes, the ghd site accepted them on the first try. Also, the second unit I bought HAD country-of-manufacture information on the box and on the date sticker (made in China, which some other comments said isn't legit, that seems to be wrong). My unit labeled made-in-China is the one that registered successfully with ghd. Also my second purchase - from the authorized dealer - had a lot of information printed on the bottom of the box, including a bar code, web info, consumer information phone number, design info and information about the product. The unit I purchased from Amazon had NO printing on the bottom of the otherwise authentic-looking box. Draw your own conclusions. Bottom-line: if you buy a ghd styler here, double and triple-check that your unit is for real.
I have just up graded my GHD. I purchased the pink one for $280 as it was the only one the salon had. When u section your hair to straighten, the flat irons don't seem to come together 3/4 of the way but on the very tip of them, it pinches my hair and rips it out. It's nothing like my old one that I've had for about 10 years. Have you changed manufacturers ?

Looked around at new ones, checked reviews and other ghd models and decided (based on price mainly) that I would just buy the same ‘original’ one again. It’s great. Better results- smooth and straight with little effort - and quicker heat up than my old one - extremely quick. Much cheaper than the fancier models. Slim and easy to store away. Glad I went for this again.
