I'm so glad I finally bit the bullet and purchased the ghd straightener I had been eying it for years on sephora but could never shell out that much money. Needless to say I was really excited to find it for a discounted price on amazon. I was really skeptical after reading mixed reviews and warnings about receiving fakes. The straightener I got is completely legit and I was able to register it on the ghd website with no problems.i have very thick wavy medium length hair. With my old straightener a remington wet 2 straight I'd have to put it on the highest setting to get any results. In turn I got tons of split ends and my hair looked dry frizzy and damaged. The second I walked out the door my hair would immediately begin to poof up again I live in the south hello humidity . With the ghd straightener there are no heat settings. It heats up in seconds and automatically adjusts to the meet the needs of your hair. I was amazed at how it glided so easily throughout my hair and left my thick wavy hair pin straight after 1 pass instead of 3 or 4 or 5 like my old straightener. My hair doesn't get snagged anymore instead I'm left with shiny silky and healthy straight hair. Even my boyfriend noticed the difference the first time I used it I was also impressed that it stayed completely straight after spending time outside in 90 humidity.i am extremely pleased with this and it completely exceeds my expectations. I hope this lasts a long time
My husband bought this for me as I was still using my expensive australian straightener here in the states. We knew how good amazon's return policy was so we ordered it knowing that we may possibly be buying a fake. Had a problem registering it on the website the first time only due to their site being temporarily under maintenance. No problems the 2nd time. The only difference with my product is the colour of the plates. Mine are black the picture shows cream . Pretty sure this is just because the photo is older.no complaints so far.
I ordered these straighteners as I'd had a pair before that lasted me 7 years it takes only 10 minutes to straighten my long hair and I would highly recommend these to anyone. These straighteners were also fantastic value for ghds which are usually over 100. They were extremely well packaged and arrived in perfect condition I am over the moon
Not my first ghd. Very happy with both of them. My last one quit so I'm hoping this one lasts longer.
Most straighteners will have either ceramic or tourmaline plates, although a few use titanium. Ceramic is the best choice for delicate, fine or color-treated hair because it heats evenly and a bit more slowly than tourmaline or titanium with no hot spots. Tourmaline and titanium, by contrast, heat up extremely quickly and can easily damage thin or sensitive hair before you’re even aware that it’s happened. For thick hair, though, tourmaline or titanium are the way to go; tourmaline has the added benefit of producing 20x more negative ions, making hair moist and silky and reducing frizz.
heats up so fast and does a great job straightening my hair I am not the most coordinated person and even I can use this.
I totally love my ghd. When I was buying it here I was a bit skeptical. However almost two years now and my thing is doing great. I love it.
Just as described love it
Heats up quick. Yes I would definitely recommend this product to a friend. Cost a little more than others but well worth it.
Xtava’s two inch-wide plates are massive, making them perfect for people with thick or coarse hair. Aside from the plates, everything else about this flat iron is fairly standard. You can use it at a temperature range in between 265 and 445 degrees Fahrenheit, the plates are made with tourmaline and ceramic, and it takes less than two minutes for the tool to fully heat.
very good hair straightener.
Good product supplied with wrong power lead doesn't suit australian power socket it even has instructions that it's not to be sold anywhere other than north america. I had to buy a adapter to use this product
“I’m a licensed hairdresser and I’ve used many hair straighteners, including Chi and Paul Mitchell. They work, but my hair is so thick that it takes me at least 30 to 40 minutes to properly smooth my hair. This is the absolute best hair straightener I have ever used. It straightened my hair in ten minutes (no joke). I’m extremely pleased and shocked. Looking to purchase a second one to have on hand for the future.”
it heats instantly and easy to handle. I love it
I was worried per the other reviews but I received my ghd and was able to register it on the ghd website. All is well and it's working great so far
love this hair iron. Best iron I've owned aside from chi.
From the time of the Roman Empire until the Middle Ages, most women grew their hair as long as it would naturally grow. It was normally little styled by cutting, as women's hair was tied up on the head and covered on most occasions when outside the home with a snood, kerchief or veil; for an adult woman to wear uncovered and loose hair in the street was often restricted to prostitutes. Braiding and tying the hair was common. In the 16th century, women began to wear their hair in extremely ornate styles, often decorated with pearls, precious stones, ribbons and veils. Women used a technique called "lacing" or "taping," in which cords or ribbons were used to bind the hair around their heads. During this period, most of the hair was braided and hidden under wimples, veils or couvrechefs. In the later half of the 15th century and on into the 16th century a very high hairline on the forehead was considered attractive, and wealthy women frequently plucked out hair at their temples and the napes of their necks, or used depilatory cream to remove it, if it would otherwise be visible at the edges of their hair coverings. Working-class women in this period wore their hair in simple styles.
This is an amazing styler I've used regular curling irons for the last couple of decades with my preference being a fatter iron. This is the first time that I've used a flat iron. I had a lot of fun playing with it and was surprised by how well and how quickly it worked. It heated almost instantly sounding a chime when it was ready to use. I sectioned off my hair and used it according to the directions on their website. It felt so slick and smooth as I pulled it down my hair that I wondered if it even made contact. However my hair was warm and perfectly straight so it did the trick it only took a few minutes for my entire head of hair to be stick straight. That's not how I wear it I was just playing. I found directions online for curling with the ghd styler and went to work. It was a little tricky at first because I was using it a way that I never used a curling iron. It didn't take long for me to get the hang of it and soon I had loose waves and curls that looked and felt wonderful. I'm thrilled with it the ghd classic styler that I received is genuine. Based on the comments here I immediately went to the ghd website and registered it and verified that it was the real deal. The only problem I had was reading the tiny date code printed inside the unit. I finally had to take a picture of it with my phone and enlarge it a little so I could make out the numbers.
An upgrade from their since discontinued Eclipse Styler, you won't be tempted to heat this flatiron up to 450 degrees, because the temperature dial is always stuck on one number: 365 (the ideal heat to mold hair without frying it, according to the scientists at GHD). Underneath each of those 365-degree plates are three fancy sensors that measure the density of the hair in the iron so that it can maintain consistent heat regardless of the chunk of hair you grab. The result? Silky, shiny hair with zero frizz.
The best hair straighteners should offer you adjustable temperature settings so you can customize it depending on your hair type. This is incredibly important if you have thin/fine, delicate, or damaged hair because it allows you to ensure that the iron doesn’t get too hot for your hair. Basically, having the ability to set the temperature/heat setting gives you more control. But if you prefer to have a set temperature, then you should take note just how much heat your hair can take and how hot your hair straightener can get.
At the price of a coffee and sandwich, you will be over the moon with the Revlon 5265CU Shape and Smooth Air Styler. It boasts 108 Amazon customer reviews with combination of 74 at 4 or 5 stars; I believe this is an excellent low cost air styler. I would buy one of these just as a spare or to carry round as it is also lightweight so makes for a good travel solution.
I have extremely kinky curly hair. This flat iron is amazing best buy thus far. It is a little expensive but if you want your hair pin straight or even have nice curls buy this heats up in 2 seconds and takes me no time to straighten my hair. Hopefully it's durable and lasts.
Features like this prove that hair straighteners really have come a long way over the last decade, and the LumaBella Keratin Duel Touch Hair Straightener certainly doesn’t disappoint in this regard! When the terror of hair damage is removed from everyday straightening, there’s no limit to the styles you can create with a hair straightener like this making this an ideal choice for novice and expert stylists alike!
It wouldn’t be fair to highlight a straightening brush that’s great for thick hair without also selecting a product that’s best for extremely thin or damaged hair. The MiroPure has 16 different heat settings and is capable of reaching 450° to straighten all types of thick and normal hair. What’s most notable, though, is that it can straighten hair at temperatures as low as 170°, perfect for very thin hair that’s likely to be fried at higher temperatures. It’s difficult to find a model suitable for that type of hair; the review team recommends the MiroPure.
The straighening ceramic plates of the ghd Gold Pure Gold Styler boast a new dual-zone technology and heat up in just 25 seconds. The dual-zone technology features two heat sensors that regulate the optimal temperature of 185°C from root to tip as you straighten, ensuring your locks are straight and ultra-sleek. The shimmering gold design adds a touch of luxury to the styler as the round barrel shape makes the Gold Pure Gold Styler perfect for easy, versatile, snag-free styling.
I love it
It does the job in less time with better result. I should’ve bought it earlier
I was worried about this product after reading several reviews stating that this flat iron was a fake or not actually a genuine ghd but because the price was so much less on amazon versus trade secret nordstrom etc. I decided to take my chances...and I'm glad I did I went online to register it. After entering the 2 required codes located on the hologram tag attached to the product I was happy to discover that it is a genuine ghd flat iron I have had a chi for many years and I actually think this flat iron works better on my naturally curly hair.
In addition to its sweet settings and versatility, this hair straightener is also super lightweight and features thin, 1-inch plates to save precious real estate on your bathroom counter or inside your vanity cabinet! The BaByliss Pro Nano Titanium Straightening Iron is ideal for anyone with a tiny bathroom (or multiple roommates!) and who wants the results of larger hair straighteners without the added weight or storage space.
this edition of ghd has luxury christmas present written all over it plus points impressive packaging that is eye catching made of heavy cardboard and signalling a luxury product.quilted case with mirrored blue button and separator for the straighteners and it’s flex to be kept separately.quality heat may that is detachable from the case.beautifully designed straighteners in the same electric blue as the packaging with a silicone heat shield at the end.safety features cut off after 30 mins and a noise alerts you to them being plugged in being switched on or being switched off.the switch is inside the straightener so that you don’t accidentally turn it off as you are straightening your hair.plates glide through hair creating straightness without effort and as they are at the optimum 185 degrees without that crimped look at the top where you first inserted the plates.improvements that would’ve made it a 5 I needed a slightly longer flex maybe another 1 2 metre.i miss the option to choose the temperature that I had on my old straighteners. I appreciate their advice about 185 degrees being the setting that works best but I have very fine hair which is also frizzy and like to have a choice so that I can accommodate what my hair is up to that day.
Still going like a champ after 2 years and heavy use by both my wife and daughter
You can't beat a real pair of ghds well that's the wifes happy for a bit at least she's over the moon thinks they are the best ever and they make her hair feel nice. What more do you want.
Sure, the drugstore flat iron you used on its highest setting back in the day was clunky and had a tendency to fry your hair if you glanced away for more than a second, and okay fine, your mom probably told you that you looked a little “emo” from time to time. Luckily, those days are long gone and hair straighteners have truly come a long way since the days of The Jersey Shore.
I had this hair styler when it was first released and when mine finally died I was distraught as I could not find it, or anything like it, locally. When I finally found it on Amazon, I was so relieved! I am so happy to have this as it works great for me. My hair is short but I think your hair length is irrelevant. My hair is not curly but it has body and is a little coarse. When it rains or I am in a humid environment, it will frizz a bit. This hot air styler--which does away with the need for a separate brush--works perfectly to smooth out my hair and at the same time add volume and direction to my hair. A friend saw me using it at the beach recently and wanted to get one too. It ... full review
My friend recommend this flat iron and I am so glad she did it works wonderfully. Heats up very quickly and beeps when its ready for use. Does a great job of straightening my long hair and it lasts until my next wash. Worth the money
First, there are the temperature settings. Obviously, different hair requires a different heat level. The thicker your hair is, the higher level of heat you should apply to straighten it. I highly recommend you to read the instructions which usually say what temperature you should select for your particular hair type. This may vary a little bit from one flat iron to another. The general rule here is the less heat you apply, the better your hair condition will be. And always use a heat protectant, regardless of your hair type.
The Herstyler flat iron comes with a protective glove which will probably come in handy as this professional straightener can heat from 180°F up to 500°F. It makes it really good at straightening thick and frizzy hair, yet the controls don’t have exact numbers in between the minimum and the maximum, so you’re supposed to guess the current temperature.
For hot air brushes, the same advice goes: always use a heat protectant, select the right temperature for your hair type, pay attention to the speed, intensity, and the barrel size of the curling brush. Ceramic and tourmaline coatings are considered to be the best ones for a hot air brush barrel. The only problem that may occur is that your locks may get stuck in the brush bristles. To avoid this, choose from models with tangle-free anti-static bristles, like this one.
If you’ve ever used a CHI hair straightener before, then you’re probably pretty well acquainted with the turn dial temperature control of models’ past. While this dial design made it easy to switch on your hair straightener each morning (even before you have had your morning coffee!), it also made it all too easy to accidentally change the temperature during use.
We try our best with the links to redirect people to the best Amazon store based on their location. For the 2 link examples, you have provided the first one goes to Amazon Australian store and the second one goes to the U.S store. The best approach might be for you to go to the correct Amazon store first and do a search for the product. I do hear that Amazon Australia has just opened and that some of the prices are quite high…. I am not sure what is best for your location?
what can I say ghds they are amazing. And the edition is the ones I always come back to. Love love love them
this is the second ghd I've bought off amazon in the last 6 months 1 for my sister and 1 for me I truely love them... You can't beat a ghd good hair day ... I was in both cases afraid of it being a fake as some reviews stated. Both times I took the advice to go to 'buying options' and to ensure you are getting it direct from amazon... They registered fine.i recommend this product 100 you will never go back to any other brand they are so fine I love the ghd's and they are not wrong I always have good hair day's ......weather permitting... I live in australia and the only thing other expence was an adapter which was fine ... I love ghd
The ghd dry and style gift set contains both the ghd gold styler and ghd air hairdryer housed inside a large beautifully presented gold black gift box. Presentation is superb throughout.the smart styler has an advanced heat sensor and heats to no more than 185 c to maintain healthy hair while the round shape of the barrel is excellent for producing wavy curly or straight results. The styler hearts up in record time 25 seconds and has an automatic switch off function if they're unused after 30 minutes. There's also a protective plate included in the box for extra safety. An absolute joy to use and the plates are so smooth they glide through my hair in one sweep without tangling.the ghd air dryer is the first professional salon quality hairdryer from ghd. The shape and weight of the dryer are excellent and the design will suit either right or left handed users. There's a powerful motor inside the dryer 1800w ac which means quicker drying times and it's comfortable to move around as it's light and has a long 3m power cord. My hair tends to have a lot of static because it's so fine but this dryer is super fast and locks in moisture for excellent results. Has several power and temperature controls plus a cool shot button which gives off a blast of cool air to set curls or more ornate styles.these are both superb products and the presentation is so good they certainly have the 'wow' factor. More than happy to recommend.
I love it I have never straightened my hair more and loved it it also heats up really fast and smooths your hair like nobodys business
My stylist recommended this product. It heats up in 30 seconds and straightens on the first swipe. I am able to straighten my hair in half the time it used to take me and also it doesn't seem to create the breakage or damage other straighteners cause.
In 2004, ghd entered the North American market, bringing its total worldwide sales generating £37 million in revenue. The Jemella Group, which owned the ghd brand, was bought by Lloyds Development Capital for £55 million in 2006. It was sold eleven months later to Montagu Private Equity for £160 million. Lion Capital, a British private equity firm, purchased ghd in February 2013 for approximately £300 million.
To solve this problem, CHI’s new G2 Ceramic and Titanium Flat Iron features a digital temperature display located right on the outside of the handle. No more knobs or dials, just buttons and electronic displays, and it is intuitive to use! This feature is great for maintaining an exact temperature during styling and also allows users of varying hair types to experience the professional-grade results CHI hair straighteners have delivered for years without the worry of damage or frying!
I bought these for my partner to replace her old pair of ghd ten years old . It turns out that these are the only brand worth buying so if your loved one has asked you for a pair of hair straighteners buy a pair of ghd's. There may well be cheaper straighteners on the market but they will not satisfy be warned . They also turn off automatically after a while so there are no more return trips to the house to check that they're off.
Dylan also loves this Karmin iron. "The plates are coated in tourmaline which helps for an easy glide," he says. Fighting frizz with infrared ions, Dylan suggests that it "makes this iron better for super coarse hair." Bonus points: it also has different voltage settings for international use. The jetsetter in you will be thankful as you globetrot glamorously.
I love these straightners. Despite this model not being the latest or top of the range I am extremely impressed. They heat up very quickly come beautifully packaged and do exactly what it says on the box. There is no false advertising you get quality with this product and when my pair eventually wear out I will be buying another pair of ghds.
