My very first GHD styler. I purchased this before cosmetology school and it worked for my extremely coarse hair. I used it quite often on myself and when I enrolled I used my GHD on my clients and it’s honestly top quality for a brand that’s accessible to at home use. I found this flatiron more consistent than the professional irons in my cosmetology kit.
It did get straight and it didn't pull or drag on my hair which was nice, but it took twice as long as it usually does (and lately i've been using a $35 flat iron I got from Amazon!) due to the fact that I had to go over and over it in increasingly smaller sections. I already use thin sections so this was just ridiculous. What annoyed me was that even after all this my hair remained poufy and never really got that shine I usually get. My hair btw, isn't even curly it's more wavy/frizzy/poufy--so I don't require tons of product or anything like that bc straightening my hair has always been an easy no-fuss affair. Usually, it takes like, one pass to get'er done.
Inferior hair straighteners take a very long time to heat, and you really need to make sure that they’re on their highest setting to have any effect. But that means getting lots of split ends, and you hair often looks frizzy, dry, and generally unhealthy. And once you go outside, if ever you live in an area that’s a bit humid the straight hair quickly goes to its default pouf settings.

Bought these on recommendation of my hairdresser to deal with my chemo damaged hair. Thankfully I didn't lose my hair but it did go really thin during treatment. 18 months on from treatment my once fine, straight and easily managed hair has come back in thick with random curly and wavy bits. My old straighteners which had served me well over the years were snagging, pulling and breaking both the damaged and newly growing hair but these ones glide through the hair with hardly any breakage. Best flat iron, 2 year warranty when bought from the website. Don’t have to adjust any heat settings you just flip the switch on. Smooths out all hair textures hair really well! And if you forget to turn it off the heat element shuts off and the flat iron beeps at you until you manually push the switch to off which is amazing since lots of us forget to turn off our flat iron after use.
For curling, place a section of hair between the plates closest to the scalp, clamp the plates, and turn styler through 180 degrees while holding the end of the strand. Pull styler through the hair slowly, always maintaining the 180 degree turn--it helps to slightly tip the nose of the styler downward, careful not to let the hair fall out. It also helps to pull the strand forward when trying to curl hair at the back of the head.
I have had this product for three years now and am happy to report I am satisfied with the product from day one. It's super easy to use and provides me perfect results every time. I couldn't live without my GHD and believe investing in a superior product is mandatory. This model is pretty basic, but does the job! It heats up within a few seconds and looks good when not in use. I haven't had any issues with it as it feels and looks well built. I will always stick with GHD straighteners, as I am a very happy customer!
My previous GHD has lasted me 8 good years with no issues (I loved it!). Recently the wires on the chord have become exposed so my partner decided to replace it for my birthday. He went to hairhouse warehouse and the staff persuaded him to purchase a Halo instead after rubbishing the GHD. I used the Halo once and whilst I quite liked it, the outer plates were too hot to touch, which makes it difficult to style my hair (I use two hands and twist for a wave effect). I went back to the store to change over to a GHD. The staff member warned me that the quality of GHDs is poor after changing manufacturers about 4 years ago. I wasn't worried though as I thought she was pushing Halo for incentive reasons. I used the GHD for the second time this week and when I plugged it in it made a pop sound like the fuse had blown - it shortcut the circuit in most the house. I then plugged it into a working socket and put the tongs to my fringe - it melted/burnt my hair immediately after being on there for a split second. There is literally melted hair all over the plate tongs and I can't get rid of the smell of burnt hair. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.
Beautiful to look at, the ghd Gold V Classic is also lovely to hold. It’s designed to be extremely lightweight, so it won’t tire your arm out holding it. The designers at ghd have done everything to ensure that the Gold V Classic delivers top-class styling with minimum fuss.

I have used ghd straighteners for the last three years and when they broke, I was devastated especially as it was a bank holiday weekend! No other straighteners were ever able to smooth my hair like ghds so I ordered another pair! After having 3 days of frizzy uncontrollable hair, I was delighted to have my hair back in smooth and beautiful condition, within minutes! I never dreamed I would become so dependent on my ghds but I wouldn't be without them now. Thank you so much for a prompt service!

I'm a journalism grad and avid makeup fan with an unhealthy addiction to buying nude lipsticks, no matter how similar they all may seem. I love chatting to anyone who will listen about my new favourite products, skincare dos and don'ts and practically any other beauty-related topic under the sun. That doesn't mean I'm frivolous with my recommendations, though--you can count on me to give you the nitty gritty on all your wishlist products. In my spare time, you'll find me binge-watching old episodes of Gilmore Girls or at brunch with a large iced coffee in my hand.
This overpriced iron is good if you have naturally fine, soft or wavy hair. If you have coarse, thick hair it will not do the job, or it will take you several passes. This is not unique to the GHD, this applies to ALL CERAMIC straighteners. The Auto shut off and dual voltage is awesome, but it is not worth it if the iron does not provide sleek, durable straight hair. If you have kinky, unruly, poofy hair go with TItanium, hand down!!
