I purchased this ghd after a hairdresser friend used hers on my hair. I couldn't believe how well it worked so I purchased the same model. I have curly frizzy hair and this straightener actually makes my hair shiny and even holds my hair straight if my hair gets wet in the rain. I use a hair straightening treatment on my hair before I use the ghd as you should with any straightener and this keeps my hair from becoming brittle. I have lovely comments about my hair since using it. It feels very soft and is healthy. I can adjust the heat setting so it does not get too hot. It is very quick to heat up and beeps when it is ready unlike others I have tried .It is so simple and quick to use. Because it is the wider ghd I can do my hair in less than five minutes. I have long hair past my shoulders. Very happy with this one.
BUYER BEWARE: I bought this from Amazon LLC, but the product would NOT register as authentic on ghd's site. I tried the hologram code and date code multiple times, but the site wouldn't verify the numbers. Also there was no country of manufacture listed on the unit, the box or the booklet. The styler looked great and was packaged well. Did the unit and stickers look authentic? Yes in every way. But the ghd site states: "fake ghd products are virtually impossible to spot." I called ghd, and a rep said sometimes legit numbers aren't accepted by the site (?!) - and told me that sometimes fake numbers go through. So in the end not sure what good the checker does. The rep did add that "Amazon is not an authorized dealer for ghd products." And the rep echoed what another reviewer said, "the only way to authenticate a styler not bought from us or an authorized dealer is to send it in to the warehouse." That's too much trouble for anyone. Is the one I bought legit? I just can't tell for sure. I'm not taking the risk. Returning it to Amazon.
Bought these on recommendation of my hairdresser to deal with my chemo damaged hair. Thankfully I didn't lose my hair but it did go really thin during treatment. 18 months on from treatment my once fine, straight and easily managed hair has come back in thick with random curly and wavy bits. My old straighteners which had served me well over the years were snagging, pulling and breaking both the damaged and newly growing hair but these ones glide through the hair with hardly any breakage. It did get straight and it didn't pull or drag on my hair which was nice, but it took twice as long as it usually does (and lately i've been using a $35 flat iron I got from Amazon!) due to the fact that I had to go over and over it in increasingly smaller sections. I already use thin sections so this was just ridiculous. What annoyed me was that even after all this my hair remained poufy and never really got that shine I usually get. My hair btw, isn't even curly it's more wavy/frizzy/poufy--so I don't require tons of product or anything like that bc straightening my hair has always been an easy no-fuss affair. Usually, it takes like, one pass to get'er done.

Inferior hair straighteners take a very long time to heat, and you really need to make sure that they’re on their highest setting to have any effect. But that means getting lots of split ends, and you hair often looks frizzy, dry, and generally unhealthy. And once you go outside, if ever you live in an area that’s a bit humid the straight hair quickly goes to its default pouf settings.
Where abouts do you keep your hair straightener? As it may be because its cold or has condensation inside it. This may sound funny but you actually shouldnt keep your GHD in the bathroom cause they can get cold and dont like it, or if u want to keep it in the bathroom then wrap it in a towel. This may fix the problem. If not then call GHD and you may be able to get a replacement. Hope this helps :)

I have just up graded my GHD. I purchased the pink one for $280 as it was the only one the salon had. When u section your hair to straighten, the flat irons don't seem to come together 3/4 of the way but on the very tip of them, it pinches my hair and rips it out. It's nothing like my old one that I've had for about 10 years. Have you changed manufacturers ?

Armed with a rounded barrel and advanced ceramic heaters, you can curl, flip, tease, wave, and straighten any hair type and texture easily without damaging your hair’s external surface. The infra-red heat technology infused within the plates also releases more negative ions than other products so your hair’s natural oils and luster are retained despite repeated exposure to maximum heat.

I gave it three sticks because my hair did eventually get straight and at no point did I feel like it harmed my hair, but it's not even adjustable because again, the company claims that this iron auto-adjusts according to hair "conductivity" or some bullshit like that (this is a laughable claim). It does have auto-shut off but so do a lot of irons (or at least the high end ones). Honestly, I can only conclude that this is another one of those hyped up beauty products aimed at people who think more $$$= better product and performance but a straightener is a straightener so once you get past the $100 price point it all comes down to personal preference and there's really not much more you're gonna get for your money...
Used by celebrities and professional hairstylists, the GHD has the street cred other flat irons rarely get. This is one versatile device with a trusted and proven styling prowess—it’s all in the name! The GHD Styler is also a great investment for people who are in the hairstyling industry. It may be a little expensive but hey, you’re bound to get more than what you’ve paid for.
The perfect tool for all your hiar styling needs. universal voltage for worldwide travel use. . The nose of the plates touch first, so it leaves a very small gap as you look down the plates, but if clamped down on tightly, they do eventually touch. ghd stylers have floating plates that help the hair glide through the hair effortlessly. The gap should almost disappear once the hair glides through the plates

I have had this product for three years now and am happy to report I am satisfied with the product from day one. It's super easy to use and provides me perfect results every time. I couldn't live without my GHD and believe investing in a superior product is mandatory. This model is pretty basic, but does the job! It heats up within a few seconds and looks good when not in use. I haven't had any issues with it as it feels and looks well built. I will always stick with GHD straighteners, as I am a very happy customer!

As far as we’re concerned, this is the best hair straightener we’ve tried. Not only does it heat up in record time (only 30 seconds until it hits 365°F), it’s also been lauded for its frizz fighting capabilities—as mentioned above, a must down South. What’s more, it lasts. One editor’s trusty Classic Styler is still going strong after 4 years of almost daily use.
