If you are looking for volume for your fine hair then I would recommend the Vidal Sassoon VSHA6471UK which is a superb hot air styler.  Designed especially to give lift and volume from the root it will give you enviable curls and waves.  It is supplied with two brush sizes 19mm and 25mm so it’s ideal for shorter styles too (use the smaller brush) and gives a pleasing smooth finish that is tangle free.  You cannot fault the price either, on Amazon.co.uk this retails below the price of a salon blow-out.
I love it I have never straightened my hair more and loved it it also heats up really fast and smooths your hair like nobodys business
Great flat iron does the job well.
I was happy the moment I got this its so smooth when you use it was abit caught off guard by the different power cord but that was quickly fixed but nonetheless I love this piece of a styler
so much better than my old flat iron. I definitely waited too long to purchase this
In summary, you will want to buy a hair brush straightener that has a lower temp range, from about 250-300° (any temps higher than that and you are likely to damage your hair – start at the lowest temp possible and work up if needed). You will also want to consider a ceramic model they will heat evenly and a bit more slowly and will not create hot spots which can damage fine hair.
although I am pretty ancient I had never used straighteners until last year when I thought I'd try them out. I bought some cheap ones which did the job but the sides used to catch on my hair and break it. I don't have enough hair as it is so definitely can't afford to tear any of it so thought I'd try these ghd ones after a friend recommended them. They cost about 5 times what the others did but they are at least 5 times better. They heat up quickly and never catch my hair. Fab. I love them.
Between 27 BC and 102 AD, in Imperial Rome, women wore their hair in complicated styles: a mass of curls on top, or in rows of waves, drawn back into ringlets or braids. Eventually noblewomen's hairstyles grew so complex that they required daily attention from several slaves and a stylist in order to be maintained. The hair was often lightened using wood ash, unslaked lime and sodium bicarbonate, or darkened with copper filings, oak-apples or leeches marinated in wine and vinegar.[12] It was augmented by wigs, hairpieces and pads, and held in place by nets, pins, combs and pomade. Under the Byzantine Empire, noblewomen covered most of their hair with silk caps and pearl nets.[13]

I love ghd products. This is the only flat iron I will use on my hair. My last ghd lasted me 6 years. It still works ok because the every day abuse I gave it and I keep it as a back up .worth the money.

The historical dictum to brush hair with one hundred strokes every day is somewhat archaic, dating from a time when hair was washed less frequently; the brushstrokes would spread the scalp's natural oils down through the hair, creating a protective effect. Now, however, this does not apply when the natural oils have been washed off by frequent shampoos. Also, hairbrushes are now usually made with rigid plastic bristles instead of the natural boar's bristles that were once standard; the plastic bristles increase the likelihood of actually injuring the scalp and hair with excessively vigorous brushing. However, traditional brushes with boar's bristles are still commonly used among African Americans and those with coarse or kinky textures to soften and lay down curls and waves.

Since 2004, ghd has raised approximately £2.5 million for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity.[28] The company produces a limited edition pink hair iron every year, with £10 of the sale price being donated in support the charity.[29] In 2010, ghd partnered with charity "Mom It Forward" and SafeHouse Denver, a women’s shelter that serves victims of domestic violence and their children, in an event at Sephora.[30]

Wonderful product I just love it take it from me you must spend the extra money and buy the more expensive professional version of this product. It makes a huge difference great seller product came one day sooner than expected.

I finally bought this after my old hair straightener nearly caused an electrical fire when the wires frayed. My sister has had her ghd for many years and she uses her daily. She has been trying to convince me to buy one for a long time claiming it was the best straightener on the market but I hesitated because of the price. I have had mine for a year now and I have no regrets it straightens perfectly and I also use it to create perfect curls and waves. It has an automatic shutoff and I just feel like it is better quality and safer than my last one. Now I am joining my sister in convincing everyone to buy one too worth the price for something you use on your hair every day

ghd is the best hair styler I've ever got it's very fast in heating up .. And you'll be ready in no timeit would be great if it included a glove though
Before placing your entire head under unnecessary heat conditions, try straightening a small section of your hair with what you believe is your ideal heat setting. Take notice of the way your hair reacts to this temperature, paying close attention to any fraying or singeing that may result. Smoking and that dreaded burnt hair smell are a sign that you may need to tone it down a bit to avoid permanent damage to your precious locks.

If you don’t have much time to hang around and read through reviews, you don’t have to. I have a list with best picks as well as a “handy dandy” table that can help you quickly sort through the options I’ve included on my site. When you’re ready, just hit “add to cart” and you can get on with your day. If you fancy that cup of coffee after all, you can click through the different options and get a more detailed picture of any model you’re interested in. No matter how you do it, all the information is designed to be quick and helpful.

A fabulous duo of top notch ghd products. Firstly the styler it's easy to use as it automatically heats to a predetermined non adjustable 185 c optimal for styling without damaging hair. Should one need a higher temperature then this is not for you. It's supplied with a chunky 20 cm square heat mat to protect surfaces and it auto powers off after 30 minutes if not in use. Given its speedy heat up rate I reckon this could be reduced to 10 minutes in use great results are possible with very little practise.and the hairdryer very nicely balanced with good access to the controls without stopping. The lower switch is the 3 position fan speed off medium high but it doesn't sit quite right ... To get to the highest speed one has to push the end of the switch down into the handle its as though the switch has not been installed level vertical but it's not a huge problem the 3 position heat switch is much better. The cold shot button requires a fair bit of effort to hold in with 1 finger for anything more than a few seconds.both have very good quality cable that are properly flexible unlike some 2.7 m styler 3.0 m on the dryer. With regard to cables the manufacturer's make it clear that the cables should not be wound around the device but folded as they were as they came out of the box ... That's ok in theory but using the twist ties is not practicable so it would have been useful to include some cheap and easy method of coiling the cable especially for travelall said and done superb kit with a niggle about a switch and cable storage
Fine or thinning hair can easily become damaged under too much heat, so cooler temperatures (i.e., those under 300° F) are ideal for these hair types. If you have very curly, course, or thick hair, then higher temperatures upwards of 400° F may be more suitable to your needs. With the ISA Professional Titanium Flat Iron, you can cool it down to 265° F if need be and also crank it up to a whopping 450° F for textured styled.
4 Out of 5 for ghd am I mad well not quite. These are excellent and certainly professional level instruments. Balanced good weight easy to use except and thoroughly well designed.hairdryer is quiet ish with more than enough power and settings to deal with most types of hair and styles. All in all an absolute delight.straighteners are almost perfect this is where the the small problem lies. First of all the good bits. Solid construction good smooth plates well balanced. Now the issue the settings. I know these are probably are professional and my gripe may be invalid but the heat setting is not high enough. Could be a decision made people who use them all day but for a once a day use I'd have preferred to be able to turn the heat up.
Users with super-thick hair have given Remington's 1" Pearl Straightener the stamp of approval on Target's website, praising it for quickly and easily smoothing strands. According to reviewers, the $24.99 tool stands up to counterparts that are more than six times the price, so you'd be hard-pressed to find a better deal out there. It has multiple heat settings, allowing you to adjust the quick-heat plates to just the right temperature to create pin-straight hair or soft curls.
wife's happy

Cannot get better than the ghd's. Excellent buy for my daughter. Bought the protective treatment aswell for the hair. I wouldn't purchase any other type of straightener.

Honestly the best straightener I've used. I have had many many many straighteners from cheap 30 ones to pricey 100 ones and this ghd is my favorite by far. One of the best things is that is has an automatic shut off. I can't tell you how many times I worried all day at work because I thought I might have left my hair straightener that heats up over 350 degrees on. I love that this one shuts off maybe a little too soon but still not complaining it's a great feature and not one my other pricey straightener offers. That being said this straightener is also works fantastically. It heats up very quickly and then glides evenly and smoothly for perfectly straight smooth hair. My hair is very thick with a slight wave especially in the back I was pleasantly surprised at what a good job this straightener does on my hair I don't have to go back and re do any sections and with a little product my style holds all day. I didn't think there would be that much difference between the ghb and my other pricier straightener but there is and I am not a ghb girl all the way

I have been looking to replace my chi flat iron for some time as it seems to really damage my fine hair. My stylist used the ghd but I figured no way was I gonna pay the high price. So I searched online and found this deal. I was worried it might be a knock off not authentic. However the box came sealed with registration information with the company. It is the real deal and I registered it for the warranty. It works so much better than the chi only requiring 1 or 2 swipes through my hair to create the look. It heats up fast too which I appreciate when I am in a rush. Don't delay this is the best price you will find for this product and you won't regret it

Achieve straight, sleek locks: Mist hair with ghd heat protect spray and place a fine section of dry hair between the plates of your ghd Classic Styler. Ensure that the styler is as close to the root as possible before closing the plates. Then gently move toward the tip of the section in one simple gliding motion. Repeat the process with each section of hair, gliding once from roots to ends.
ordered straight from amazon. Was able to register on ghd site love this straightner had a chi before but it broke after 5 years of having it and someone told me to try this and im glad I did
From the 16th to the 19th century, European women's hair became more visible while their hair coverings grew smaller, with both becoming more elaborate, and with hairstyles beginning to include ornamentation such as flowers, ostrich plumes, ropes of pearls, jewels, ribbons and small crafted objects such as replicas of ships and windmills.[14][21] Bound hair was felt to be symbolic of propriety: loosening one's hair was considered immodest and sexual, and sometimes was felt to have supernatural connotations.[22] Red hair was popular, particularly in England during the reign of the red-haired Elizabeth I, and women and aristocratic men used borax, saltpeter, saffron and sulfur powder to dye their hair red, making themselves nauseated and giving themselves headaches and nosebleeds.[12][23] During this period in Spain and Latin cultures, women wore lace mantillas, often worn over a high comb,[14][24] and in Buenos Aires, there developed a fashion for extremely large tortoise-shell hair combs called peinetón, which could measure up to three feet in height and width, and which are said by historians to have reflected the growing influence of France, rather than Spain, upon Argentinians.[25]

Being a bald old feller its reasonably obvious that I ordered these for my wife who over the years has become something of an expert on hair styling equipment and has been the guinea pig for this product so her thoughts on this styler....her immediate reaction was ghd they are the best make ever secondly it is a lovely looking styler and is beautifully boxed with a heat resistant protective plate guard for the blade ends and a heat resistant travel bag.my wife was truly amazed at the short heat up time the advertising says 25 seconds she says that it is almost immediate in use there are no problems though she did say that perhaps the plates could be larger otherwise no issues.so to the real nitty gritty....my question was... Would you buy this styler her reply.. No its far too expensive and even though it heats up really quickly basically its no better than cheaper stylers

However, the plates may be too narrow for those with long hair. Also, the heat settings do not indicate temperature so you don’t really know how much heat you’re exposing your hair to. Though, you are aware that the temperature range is 280 to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Take note that there’s no automatic shut off feature. But for the price and performance, a lot of people are saying “hell yeah” to this product.
authentic heats up immediately and straightens in no time. Worth the
This ghd air hairdryer gold professional styler gift set contains two of ghd's professional quality hairstyling products the ghd air hair dryer plus the ghd gold professional styler. This christmas gift set doesn't yet have a price listed at the time of this review but currently the dryer alone costs 99 with the styler alone costing 139 from amazon so if the gift set costs less than 238 it could be a bit of a christmas bargain ghd or good hair day every day as they say is a leeds based hair care products company that has been around since 2001 and in that time has gained a good reputation for professional hair straightening irons amongst other things – my wife has been wanting to try their products for a long time. The air hair dryer included in this set has a powerful 2100 watt motor and features ghd's ionic technology to care for your hair – the comprehensive controls allow you to vary the power and temperature from hot to cool shot. The dryer is ergonomic to use and comes with a generous three metre power cable attached – my wife has been using it for a few weeks and says it is by far the best hair dryer she has ever used.ghd now produce a wide range of hair stylers with their gold professional styler at 139 being towards the top end. This is a salon quality tool that my wife absolutely loves – the build quality and features are first class and you can easily see how the company has gained it's good reputation. This is a high tech product that is safe and easy to use and has been designed for use by top stylists and to help you to produce salon quality results at home. My wife is currently growing her hair longer and is finding this styler extremely useful now it is at mid length – she expects it to be even more so when it reaches it's final length. This is a top quality gift set that would be very welcome at christmas but is perfect for use at anytime – my wife has been really pleased with both of these items and gives this gift set an unreserved five stars for design and performance.
This set contains a ghd gold styler a heatproof plate guard a heat resistant mat a zip bag that contains a paddle brush and two large hair clips the zip bag press studs onto the mat and the whole lot rolls together for storage . This comes in a gorgeous gift presentation box that has a hidden magnetic fastening you may want to keep this to store it in as everything fits so nicely. Anyone who received this as a present should really appreciate it.the included instructions are brief and whilst they tell you how to turn the styler on and off and cover health and safety information they do not tell you how to get the best out of the styler or how to actually use it on your hair. The assumption seems to be you already know how to straighten your hair because you already have a ghd styler or you've used another brand before. I think this is a shame and seems a bit of an oversight as this gift set could be someone's first styler. I've had cheaper straighteners in the past which had quite a detailed page on how to get the best out of the straighteners . Yes you can find this information on the internet and on youtube but sometimes it's just nice to have it there to read when you open the box.having said that they do reach temperature quickly and straighten well you can tell why it's the brand leader. My previous straighteners you could alter the temperature but I'm quite happy with how these work at a set temperature and it's one less thing to faff around with. It has a 30 minute safety cut off for me this time could be shorter but at least it does have a cut off. I love that it comes with both a heat proof mat so many products just don't seem to and the heat proof plate guard as well.overall a gorgeous hair straightening gift set that anyone not already owning a ghd styler would love to have provided they do want to straighten their hair.
I had the hsi professional which I thought was pretty good but this ghd flat iron definitely beats it in all aspect which it better be since the price is 3x as much . First I like it that it beeps to let you know that it's ready to be used after plugged in. Second it's very light so for a person with thick hair like me usually takes forever to smooth out all my hair it's less tiring. Last but not least it straightens just in 1 2 strokes and it lasts it cuts down my hair prep time by half if not more. Save up a little longer and get this instead of hsi which is also less compact
I purchased these ghd straightners a few days ago and have been overly impressed with them. They are so far deinately the best pair of straightners I have ever purchased. My main concern was that they wouldnt be genuine but the ghd website said amazon was an approved seller and since haveing the straightners I have been able to register them so they must be genuine. I would definately recommend the straightners
