This is my current go to styler at home. The one inch plates work perfectly for medium length hair. I don’t recommend using this plate size for longer hair , as it can be a task. The plates heat up and beep in about 60 seconds making this a necessity for busy people as well as a busy and timely stylist. There is also a hard plastic sleeve to cover the plates so it can be packed away quickly. They heat up to 450°f so that’s useful when traveling.
My very first GHD styler. I purchased this before cosmetology school and it worked for my extremely coarse hair. I used it quite often on myself and when I enrolled I used my GHD on my clients and it’s honestly top quality for a brand that’s accessible to at home use. I found this flatiron more consistent than the professional irons in my cosmetology kit.
This iron claims to heat up in 15 seconds; it also claims to use some bullshit technology that allows it to "self adjust" temperature according to hair type. Well it got warm but it sure as hell didn't heat up enough to seriously straighten or curl my hair in a mere 15 seconds--in fact, I found that it didn't ever straighten my hair enough to satisfy me.
I got this recently since it was somewhat affordable and I was in desperate need of a replacement flat iron. I didnt plan on it becoming my main styling tool but for the affordability of this tool, I am SO impressed with the quality! It heats up in a matter of seconds, gets super hot which means a lightening fast styling time, and it's available from Nordstrom which is my favorite retailer to shop!
