As mentioned earlier, the GHD classic Styler uses ceramic plates which heat up faster than other materials but it doesn’t emit negative ions like tourmaline flat irons, which doesn’t only straighten hairs smoothly but also makes dry and damaged hairs healthy by counteracting with positive ions. So, in terms of professional use and/or greatest results, GHD classic styler can’t be recommended. That is my personal opinion as an author. As an alternative, I can recommend you to read CHI Air hair iron review, it is tourmaline ceramic, and thus little more in price in comparison to classic styler.

I have used ghd straighteners for the last three years and when they broke, I was devastated especially as it was a bank holiday weekend! I'm absolutely in love with my GHD. I've been wanting to buy one for a few years now but was a bit hesitant paying $240 (Australian) so when i seen them on sale i thought i would bite the bullet! I will never buy another brand again (I've used remington and babyliss) it heats up super quick, glides through the hair like butter and takes much less time as with previous straightners i've had to go over the same strand a few times and it left my hair frizzy and needing heaps of product to smooth it down! Definetly worth the money, has 2 years warranty and barely need to use any products except hot iron spray and a tiny amount of moroccan oil. The product curls my hair perfectly and would have got the one with wider plates for my thick long hair but wanted to be able to use it to curl. A must buy for those that use a straightener often.

For curling, place a section of hair between the plates closest to the scalp, clamp the plates, and turn styler through 180 degrees while holding the end of the strand. Pull styler through the hair slowly, always maintaining the 180 degree turn--it helps to slightly tip the nose of the styler downward, careful not to let the hair fall out. It also helps to pull the strand forward when trying to curl hair at the back of the head.
To achieve straight, sleek locks: Mist hair with GHD Heat Protect Spray (sold separately) and place a fine section of dry hair between the plates of your GHD Professional Styler. Ensure that the styler is as close to the root as possible before closing the plates. Gently move toward the tip of the section in one simple gliding motion. Repeat the process with each section of hair, gliding once from roots to ends.

I got a new GHD styler/straightener for my birthday this year. My old original ghd maxx sadly gave up and died after 10 years of faithful service! I opted for the standard design this time as it was in a special mother’s day gift pack for a reduced price and I am really happy with it. Although it takes a little longer to styler my long thick hair (compared to the thicker tonged styler) it has the same long lasting, shiny effect!
This is my second hair straightener. My first was a Babyliss and I did not manage to do some nice curls, the Babyliss did not glide through the hair. This GHD feels professional. The heating goes very fast. It is quiet hard to learn how to do the perfect curls with this straightener but I hope to learn the technique some day! I noticed that it is easier to do curls on other peoples hair than your own. I have to practice. And I hope this styler will last forever!

Against the ghd Platinum Styler: On the other hand, the Platinum Styler features more sensors and heaters than the new ghd Gold. This essentially means it will heat the hair quicker, and is a little safer in terms of heat delivery, too. Six sensors and heaters work to deliver optimal heat to the hair, instinctively adjusting to give you a transformative experience. Where this is the top-of-the-range choice, the ghd Gold Professional Styler sits perfectly in the middle, a great mix of affordability and professional quality.
